Remember When Candidate Obama Got Attacked In The Primaries?
Edited on Sun Aug-02-09 11:03 PM by MannyGoldstein
Every attack elicited a quick and sharp response - as he said, if they bring a knife, he'll bring a gun. And it worked - he beat the Clintons, and won the nomination.

If we're to get anything resembling a first-world health care system, Obama needs to step up and do the same, here and now. Day by day, he needs to call the overt and covert (Blue Dog) Republicans on their bullshit, and let 'em have it. Obama has the greatest speaking skills of any politician I've seen in my lifetime, but he needs to pull those skills out of retirement - or we are lost.

1. More than just that
people that were just as rabid for him in the primaries need to be even more rabid about supporting him especially right now.

5. The survival of the charge among Democrats is truly sad
The people who continue to make it, on the other hand, are hilarious.

9. Yes, apparently
"it's fucking reality". Some have already sized him up and written him off. The use of the past tense downthread is telling.

11. Actually, IIRC, people urged him to be tougher and respond more strongly during primaries...
And he laid back and reacted in a measured way, and he won.

I don't think for a second that he isn't feeling this thing and that, when he thinks the time is right, he won't come out strongly and impressively and effectively.

I guess right now is just not that time.

:patriot:

12. He brushed off the attacks. And plowed forward.
When the attacks were sticking, he fought back. He did fine, and will do fine. We will win the healthcare battle.
