The Louisiana Attorney General and State Auditor are investigating whether the administration of Gov. Bobby Jindal (R-La.) has broken any laws by publishing a blog that some say is politically charged.
The investigation was launched at the request of state Sen. Robert Adley (R), who believes the blog–called "The Ledger"–furthers a political agenda. Adley has named numerous laws he believes the blog violates.
"The Ledger's stated purpose and its actual use and operation are widely different. Reviews of postings show a clear political agenda," Adley wrote to the auditor and Attorney General, according to The Advocate.
The blog in question is published by the Department of Administration and focuses on fiscal and budgetary news.
The department's lawyer defended the blog as perfectly appropriate.
"If a bit of exuberance in metaphor and anecdote has caused some to question propriety, or even legality of some Ledger content, then a word of caution seems appropriate," Pamela Miller Perkins wrote to the Attorney General. "Nevertheless, The Ledger has not violated any of the cited statutes."
