Edited on Mon Aug-03-09 11:20 PM by FrenchieCat
I mean, are we going to let them stop health care reform with their shoutdowns at Town Halls and shit?
Are we going to allow them to do what they did in Florida when they shut down the recount?

They got what they want then.....and we just sat by and let them have it.

Seems like unless we now are willing to do something, we are may be the ones lacking a pair....no?

1. Someone needs to see the August agenda for a whole lot of people.
I bet if only one or two biggies were addressed, with lots of media, it would drown the punks out.

2. Problem is, we can't just spend all our time debunking every claim...

That these weirdos come up with.

The fact is that the Democrats actually have a unique advantage. The country is still pissed at Republicans as a whole, and we can take this time to rebrand the Dems as the "party of results" if we can push meaningful legislation through.

Better to get the word out, and rally our troops behind the causes we support, and hold our reps feet to the fire. We can't let ourselves get distracted by every pebble they throw. Keep tabs on the dangerous ones, and let the rest dig their own graves as we work on the agenda that our boys were elected to further.

My 2 cents.

Edit: Meant as a reply to OP. My error.

3.  I'm thinking the president and
his supporters in Congress should be coming up with some ideas on how to counteract this 2009 version of the blowhards who shut down the recount in Florida 2000 that was part of the bushcheney coup.

I know Obama's not going to stand idly by.

I'm writing to the Press about these douchebags now.

If there's a congressional meeting near enough for me to drive, I'll be there!

9. We need to turn out as many people as possible complete with
signs and banners at every town hall meeting.

Democratic strategist Chris Kofinis suggested that every meeting open with a constituent's personal story of how the current system has hurt them.

Put a personal face on the havoc that the current for-profit-at-all-costs system is wreaking. Shame the disruptors into silence. If they shout down and ridicule someone who has suffered a personal tragedy because of the greedy health insurance execs, they will look like the selfish pigs that they are.

Also, lets start a thread listing by state scheduled town hall meetings and get the word out that we need to show up and let the lazy ass media SEE that there more of US than of THEM.

11. Yep....we need so action!
Less screaming about what we expect from OBama on the internet,
and more physical activism for what we want!

If they can do it, with their sorry asses, we should be able to as well!

13. That was a good idea Kofinis had, but the person would NEVER be heard above the shouting.
Edited on Tue Aug-04-09 12:03 AM by quiet.american
These are cruel, sick people. They would shout down/attack someone having a heart attack right in front of them.

I was thinking the same about signs -- great idea -- and making up flyers to hand out as a heads up -- on one side feature Bob MacGuffie's (I have a feeling no such person actually exists) "best practices" memo -- on the other, screenshots of the riots with "These Thugs Brought to You by FreedomWorks" superimposed over the screenshots. Below the screenshots, list the clients who employ FreedomWorks "services."

Also what about calling FreedomWorks' offices to see what they have to say for themselves about this.

Protesting outside of FreedomWorks offices might also be an idea.

10. They'd love to have these town halls deteriorate into saloon-style brawls so that NOTHING ...
... could be debated or heard.

12. So what do you suggest?
We can't just sit there, can we?

I'm tired of that minority calling the shots,
and directing the traffic.
Considering that the media helps them as much as they can,
we are already at a disavantage....although we are the majority.
That's sad! :(

14. Instead, We Want To Sit On The Internet And Blame Obama for Everything
Then say that we're going to vote for Nader because Obama didn't deliver single payer.

The American Left is nothing more than keyboard heroes whose only real skill is vote splitting.

20. We already know their playbook...
Groups of people make up signs outlining the playbook, perhaps with a precursor sign held by the person on the left stating "Here's what the faux enraged agitators behind me are about to do:"

Then another member of the group begins video capture of the event, panning through the signs outlining the playbook before the hired help has a chance to start their shouting and screaming. Then, after the events unfold as predicted, the footage of EACH of these meetings is distributed to the local media as well as MSM (who likely won't show it) and uploaded to Youtube where the rest of us do what we can to make them go viral.

Maybe simplistic, maybe not possible. But, somehow, someway, they have to be exposed for who and what they are because we sure as hell aren't going to succeed if our only plan is to try to shout them down.

I like the idea of passing out memos to those going into the meetings telling them what to expect, as well. Expose them at each meeting before they get a chance to begin.

"Tea Baggers FAIL to disrupt Health Care meeting, lessons shared."

by Don Briggs

Share this on Twitter - Tea Baggers FAIL to disrupt Health Care meeting, lessons shared. Mon Aug 03, 2009 at 10:50:13 PM PDT
The Democratic Alliance of Northwest Indiana (DANI ) hosted a meeting with Rep. Pete Visclosky (D, IN-01), on Monday, Aug. 3, 6:30 PM. We invited the public and their written questions. It seems good to share with the Daily Kos readership some lessons we learned.

Bottom line:
• We had an orderly and productive meeting.
• No one stood up, shouted out and sat down.
• At no point was our Congressman or audience rattled.
• DANI accomplished its objective. We provided the public an opportunity to question our Congressman about Health Care and Clean Energy.
• Tea Baggers came out in force, but they failed to disrupt the meeting.
• Local reporters attended.

Lessons learned follow below the fold.
