TV pundits paint themselves into a corner on the memo controversy
The RW pundits are jumping all over themselves to try and take out Lockhart on this whole memo controversy, but... where is THEIR proof?

Conservative pundits berated CBS for faulty journalism -- then smeared Lockhart

Conservative pundits assailed CBS's journalistic practices -- and then proceeded to spread unsupported speculation about Kerry-Edwards '04 campaign senior adviser Joe Lockhart. While criticizing CBS's decision to broadcast memos regarding President George W. Bush's National Guard service, which the network can no longer vouch for, conservative pundits Sean Hannity, Pat Buchanan, Tony Blankley, and Neal Boortz suggested with no credible evidence that Lockhart might be behind the documents.

On the September 20 edition of FOX News Channel's Hannity & Colmes, co-host Sean Hannity suggested that Lockhart may have been involved in "creat the forged documents." On MSNBC's Scarborough Country later that evening, Washington Times editorial page editor Tony Blankley claimed that "Lockhart is almost certainly lying" when he denied speaking with Burkett about the National Guard documents. On the same program, MSNBC analyst Pat Buchanan said that in light of Lockhart's purported role, "Kerry would be well advised" to remove Lockhart from his campaign. Blankley added that because Lockhart was "caught doing the dirty work," he "will be fired within 48 to 72 hours. ... This is at the Haldeman stage of firings already." (H.R. Haldeman was chief of staff under President Richard M. Nixon and a key Watergate scandal figure.) On September 21, nationally syndicated radio host Neal Boortz claimed CBS "asked Joe Lockhart to talk to Bill Burkett about these forged documents." Boortz then said, "It looks for all the world like the Kerry campaign was right in the middle of this forged documents scandal."

1. Wouldn't it be sweet
if after all this pontificating CBS/Rather came out with some very hard proof of RNC/Rove involvement in the forgeries. I would laugh for days!

2. I'd be happier with the originals/1st order duplicates from microfiche
Especially if they came from the military archives!

3. yes..even better!
EVen with all the smoke & mirrors, I think more people are seeing this for what it really is...I think there are a lot of folks that are remaining quiet but will/are changing their minds about Bush.

(My optimism sustains me!)

5. Proves Repugs are behind it. It's what they always do...attack other
person when they are the ones up to something they've got to cover their butts on. It's getting tiresome watching them. Their script is so old.

If they didn't come out attacking the Dems then I'd think the Dems did it or it was just CBS being over-zealous.

6. It's Pissing In The Wind
Too many minds are set on this puppy...those who want to hate Democrats, CBS, Rather, Kerry, Gays, air and so on are gonna "legitimize" this in their parallel universe and any connections by Repugnicans to similar dirty tricks are justified as "self defense". I'm hearing it already.

It became so obvious, RT, the other night when I saw Ben Ginsburg on commenting about the CBS crap. Every time I think the cable media can't whore and compromise themselves any worse, they come up with something new.

Honestly, I have no idea of Stone was involved in this...or who Lucy whatever her name is or if Burkett is being smeared or a whacko...and few people should care. Besides the diversion from issues that play to our strength (war, economy, health) we have no control on where these things go.

Also, and a good thing I'm sensing...most people know this regime is deceptive and self-absorbed...those two elements can't be wiped away in "scandals"...it's perceptions that are on our side and just need time to find a ballot box to speak.

Cheers!
