Senate passes 'Cash for Clunkers' funding extension
Posted: August 6th, 2009 08:21 PM ET

WASHINGTON (CNN) – The Senate voted Thursday night to extend the "Cash for Clunkers" program with an infusion of $2 billion.

White House aides said earlier that President Barack Obama will quickly sign the bill into law to prevent any interruption to the popular incentive.

The Senate voted 60-37 to approve the measure already passed by the House.

1. So the 37 were probably all the Repubs minus Collins and Snowe
I'd be interested in the roll call.

Looks like 3 Republicans other than Snowe & Collins. (Brownback, Bond, and Voinovich)

McCaskill & Nelson voting No.

Of course, she also voted against the stimulus package.

I do hope that the President will not campaign for her.

And isn't it interesting that the Republican senator from Missouri - Bond - voted YES?

11. MO is a big auto production state
I'm more surprised she voted against it than I am Bond voted for it.

13. Foreign Automakers Are In Missouri
If the domestic automakers go out of business, then the foreign automakers with plants in the South might benefit.

5. This should have been the very first thing they did with stimulus money
Of course the Bush Administration would have wanted to spend stimulus money on the defense companies to replace klunker weapon systems.

9. I LOVE how Professor Lee Papa...
...aka The Rude Pundit http://www.rudepundit.blogspot.com describes the GOP reaction to the success of the Cash-For-Clunkers program on the Stephanie Miller show (scroll down to 8/3):

It's like they've been given gift certificates for blowjobs at the local brothel...and they're complaining that they're going to be sore."

I do love me some Rude Pundit...:loveya:

12. PROFESSOR Lee Papa..
:hi:
I feel the dude deserves some respect. He's got some serious scolastic chops (and quite the curriculum vitae), besides being The Rude Pundit we all know and admire...

Too lazy to go look up where I found this a couple years ago...but it might be on google...
