Bush got his PDB this day in 2001.

America was still in the bitter wake of the presidential selection by the Supreme Court.

The dot.com bubble had just burst.

Bush was on vacation in Crawford. People were already ridiculing Dubya as an absentee president.

Dubya received his PDB briefing this afternoon, at the end of which he dismissed the CIA briefer with a snide, "Now you've covered your ass", and went outside and cut up some wood.

Tenet will fly down next week to plead with the President to roll-up the al-Qaeda cells known to be preparing attacks inside the U.S. Dubya will blow him off, as well.

Dubya won't be popular until the corporate media annoints him King-Warrior-Savior on September 13.
