I am amazingly exausted over this fight we engage in with corporate evil.
It is just a stupendous thing to watch how the big, corporate entities are like giant cornered animals or robots. Cold, no feelings....just calculatingly looking to kill opponents and keep their advantage.

Well, despite all that, and because of Bush wreckage, we have a stimulus package. We have expansion of S-Chip. We have a budget with some seriously progressive priorities. A Supreme Court nominee has now been confirmed.

But the big battles are still ahead. Significant numbers of troops need to leave Iraq. Then Afghanistan.

Health care NEEDS to be done now and done effectively.

Once the Health Care thing happens I can start to feel a little about this first year of Obama. But it is by no means a sure thing. Right now, it is crazy. It is really really crazy. I am again disappointed in a lot of my fellow Americans.

1. Fight or Flee - Is It Time To Back Down? Or, Fight Harder?
You have healthcare insurance companies that benefit from a system where 16% of GDP goes to healthcare. You have Rupert Murdoch's media empire virtually promoting an armed insurrection with rants against President Obama and socialism. You have a "mainstream" media that is reluctant to actually engage in journalism. Finally, you have a weakminded population of Fox viewers who think what Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh say is the gospel. So, do we fight or do we flee?

3. I disagree they are hesitant to engage in journalism
I think they are under orders to not engage in journalism. We see there are a lot of internal meetings at Newscorp, Foxnews, GE, MSNBC, Mickey Mouse Land, ABC...they all are divisions of some giant profit generating corporate psychopathic monster.

The truth undermines these dynamics so they flee from the truth. I truly believ that.

2. Yeah, I figured after winning two elections, the Congress and White House, we would have something.
The Republicans are hell bent on destroying this country by any means.

And they need to be resisted by every means necessary.

4. I hear you.. It's one step forward, 2 steps back
Republicans may be out of office from time to time, but they are never out of power.. They just retreat to the shadows & lick their wounds and recharge for the next onslaught..

They are smaller now, but they are evil through and through, and they are a tenacious bunch:(

7. Exactly!
I write for a small progressive blog -- and in the last few weeks, it's been amazing to see the change in the comments. Suddenly, we're getting hate comments consistently from these freaks. Why are they bothering to come to a progressive blog to spew? WHY? Because they are trying desperately to hang on to their power.

Power never gives up easily.
