Two things I've noticed in these town hall videos: no minorities yelling and chanting
and lots of senior citizens complaining about socialism and what not.

Give up the medicare and buy a private insurance policy. Oh, can't afford it? Then sit down and STFU.

2. There are very few minorities THERE...
I went to a "town hall" in Douglas, Arizona yesterday. Douglas is ON the border. I would say that 90 percent of the town is Mexican American. There was ONE family (man, wife, two young daughters) that was obviously mexican-american out of maybe 100 or so attendees. That was IT. And the right wing nut jobs SHOUTED at them to "go home to Mexico" when the man tried to speak. He shouted right back at them (his family has been here 6 generations, long before Douglas was part of the United States). They almost got into a fist fight until a police man showed up. The wing nuts wanted the cop to call Border Patrol on this man. "Make sure he isn't an illegal, ya know".

It was ugly with a capital U.

4. Socialism for lilly white seniors is all the rage
Edited on Fri Aug-07-09 01:04 AM by Cali_Democrat
Just don't give it to the younger minorities or people will scream about how they want their country back because it's heading toward socialism.

6. Bringing your handicapped son to a town hall and yelling at a US Congressman from 3 feet away?
Was that even his son? Why do they all have to scream and yell?

7. Another thing I've noticed in every one of them
No order whatsoever; meetings that have been allowed to go completely out of control.

9. Once order is lost, it's almost impossible to get it back
Chaos breeds more chaos:(

These meetings need to get real security, and start removing disrupters.

13. To do that they either need security, police or they will become embroiled
in something they do not want to be seen doing.

These people are THERE to provoke a response...When the tv crew arrives to interview them, they are Eddie Haskell.

These meetings need to offer free tickets to the events to true constituents ONLY..the tickets should be handed out along with photo id and by signing a paper that shows they understand that disruption comes with expulsion..

then they need to sign people IN, with those same ids..and of course HIRE SECURITY or get police to attend..

14. Two bouncers at the door is usually sufficient for security
Every indoor public meeting place (at least in my state) has a maximum room capacity posted. This is for fire code compliance. Bouncers can keep track of the number of people entering and leaving.

You also know how many chairs are provided. That number subtracted from the room capacity gives the number of people who can be standing, including the moderator, speakers, police, and members of the press. Once the fire code capacity is reached, you don't allow anyone else in. If people force their way in, you have an unlawful assembly.

If you run a meeting in a public place, you must keep control. If you fail, the meeting is over and people must disperse.

15. Yep.. I think that dems have gotten too used to orderly meetings
and were "ripe" for the pickings. republican organizers LIVE for opportunities like this, and they are always ready to pounce.

They want to STOP the meetings from ever happening, so they can go back to "their" groups & complain about how now one's explained things to them...even if THEY are the ones preventing the explanations.. :grr:

8. Those who listen to Limbaugh, and FOX are not minorities...
but the white older audience, and the white underclass.

EVen at the town hall in Philly (which has a diverse racial demographic)
the people present at that meeting were not representative of Philly.

The organizers of these meetings need to have a stronger organizing
structure... have people show identification to get in,
and if they aren't local to the area, they go to the end of the line.

And meetings need a strong leader to 'chair' the meetings,
and firmly stress mutual respect in regard to speaking.

Disrupters need to be treated just like Code Pink was treated
during other meetings: if they disrupt the proceeding,
they are asked politely to leave. If they won't settle down
or leave on their own, they are escorted out.

THOUSANDS of them fanning out, giving people free lunches and kits, along with the classes.. Teaching them how to organize..giving them scripts & talking points.. Creating cohesive groups of political sleeper cells just waiting to be activated.. It's fun for them..

16. Remember the Goldwater "little old ladies in tennis shoes"?
The ones that were paranoid about those colored folks and giving away money to the poor? This is simply the modern version of it. They're wearing walking shoes instead of tenny-boppers, and they're openly racist and violent, but they're the same people.

19. Not all senior are idiots - Lots of us know the difference between
government insurance such as medicare, chips for children, medicaid, and private insurance. These people that don't get it listen to Fox news. Believe me they are protesting for one reason only. They hate Obama a black president.

21. Seniors have
paid into Medicare for 3-4 decades, they have earned their Medicare. Unfortunately, by the time you are their age, there probably won't be any Medicare..............

I'll bet you can't afford private insurance either.........
