Is anyone else totally paralyzed with hatred for these people?
I firmly believe that many, if not most, political issues really are honest differences in opinions and worldviews. But at some point, the other side crossed a line where there they have become objectively wrong.

It's been this way for quite a while, but the last few weeks have been too much. They are not simply voicing a difference of opinion on health care, they are lying -- whether it be in their characterization of the public option, the completely fabricated statements they are making about Medicare and end-of-life care, and their embrace of violent thugs motivated by fear, anger and racism. Also, it is objectively wrong for prominent, elected GOP officials to make statements giving any validity to the birther nonsense -- and yet it has become commonplace.

And it's not just the current stuff that's driving me nuts. Their lies are the reason why we are in Iraq. They are the reason why we live in a country where only 39% of people believe in evolution. And they are reason why there is currently a "debate" over global warming, while we reach a tipping point that will forever impact our kids.

The list just goes on and on and on . . .

I welcome someone telling me that I'm overreacting and that there are "two sides to every issue," but I don't see it. And I'm not saying that I'm ready to give up yet, but I do admit that it is becoming harder and harder to want to fight back.

It does seem to be less effective than it once was, these crazy tea baggers are a small minority, but we need to be constantly vigilant.

4. I detest these thugs more than I can say.
It's hard for me to watch the news because the discourse in this country has gone down the toilet. I can't bear difficult watching adults behave like spoiled, hateful, selfish children. The human race really needs to evolve into a more peaceful entity, but we won't as long as there are people who willfully embrace the darkest aspects of human nature and try to shove them on everyone else.

5. You are not alone in this.
It is becoming increasingly clear that most members of Congress are so beholden to the insurance and pharmacological industries that they are not responsive to their constituents' needs. We need campaign finance reform urgently to get private money out of this system. Only then will we get meaningful reform.

10. That IS the New Deal change that needs to happen soon!
Everything else is parsing words and putting our fingers in the dike.

To get things fundamentally changed so that we can shut down this incessant stream of propaganda that is so expensive both in our dollars to counteract, and to society as a whole as a distraction while the world's economy, security, and environment literally blow up before our eyes, we need this change to take the crooks just looking for cash out of where they should never have been in the first place!

Barack, if you want to be known as the next FDR, health care is just the first step. The REAL change you need to make to get this country on a new direction is to put in place meaningful public campaign financing. And NO "bipartisan" efforts here. Make it non-partisan as much as possible, but take the corporate "people" out of this mix in making this decision. The whole point of this is to get back to "We the people" in this country, not "We the corporate people and some other people"...

This whole charade is the rest of ignorance, selfishness and fearmongering. The desperation shows - now if they would only try to think about who really caused that.

All we need to to is FIGHT BACK. They're nothing but animals and bullies, and the only thing that gets through to bullies is being bullied back BECAUSE they are animals. There HAVE been successful town hall meetings, like this one and http://thatsrightnate.com/2009/08/05/congressman-kimble-reports-on-his-successful-town-hall">this one. All we have to do is what THEY'RE doing--organize, plan, and FIGHT! The difference, of course, is that we'll be fighting with manpower and reality.

19. It is NOT about "honest disagreement" - it is about huge amounts of money invested in spreading hate
and fear to people to disrupt the legally elected government or our country. It is the RW controlled MSM, the medical corporations who provide the busses to move these terrorists around to various meetings, and to train them in tactics of disruption.

They are pawns of the RW rich who want nothing more than for the recovery to fail in every possible way, and are working against the interests of the people of the US for their continued profit and power. They are moving the extreme right toward the center, and moving the center toward open violence. RWers for years have been posing about how cowardly liberals are and how we should be killed. They are beginning to try to make it happen.

Besides, you give up autonomy when you hate. You become controlled by those you hate.

I detest the lying, but I feel sorry for the liars. They live in a small, frightening world that they are utterly incapable of understanding. They lash out irrationally and ineffectually, harming themselves and those around them. They are pitiful creatures who never really live at all.

Don't get me wrong, though, I won't be taking any shit from them, either. :)

Currently working on a packet of materials that we hope to be able to send out to seniors this fall with guidance on how to navigate the Medicare Part D "doughnut hole."

That said, the American view of "balance" is frustrating- and the culture of lies in this country is tough to deal with. Looking very forward to NOT having to deal with it much longer.

This is the death throes of their movement of greed, hate, and ignorance.

Can't you see it?

I can.

They are scared to the point of violence. That is the only recourse left to them. They have no rational discourse, no points to be made, no position to defend with factual argument.

THEY ARE LOSING.

They can call me names, flip me the bird, say my Momma smells, I care not.

But the last guy that poked me in the chest when I was walking a picket line got two broken fingers.

He went whining to the cops about it.

The cops told him he shouldn't have poked me.

And they are purposefully ratching up fear and hatred, so much so, that I am so concerned about the president's life. It's making me very depressed. 39. what I really hate is that they get attention
If they were just in a corner stamping their little feet, that'd be kind of funny. But that the obvious falsehoods of their claims get any validation whatsoever from the MSM is really troublesome. It's not fair that outright lies are being spread free of charge by any news outlets that air their stupidity without a big flashing "THESE PEOPLE ARE LYING AND HERE IS WHY" banner.

Like you, I feel that there are many legitimate sides to most questions. But you're right, they're not just voicing a difference of opinion, they are lying, and it really bugs me that dramatic, fear-mongering lies can be more effective than the boring, uninteresting truth.

41. They might want us to be. All the more reason to stay very fluid and
variably opposed.

Dolphins are smaller than sharks but swim faster and are more agile and more intelligent. When they want to or need to they can take a great white out and ram it until it drowns.

Ideas coming in from various angles at the GOP would have about the same effect. Their most extreme voices are ratcheting up the propaganda because their assumed control over government has failed.

They have lost the public debate and have resorted now to histrionic fabrication. Always the first signs of failure.

I predict they will be many years wandering the wilderness.

43. At their 'bus tour' rally here
one of them came stomping toward us and shouted "Oh yeah, they bussed me all the way from where I live about 15 miles from here!" (this in response, apparently, to their speaker's comments about the stories of AFP bringing people in to the rallies to inflate the numbers). One of us lowered her mask, smiled at the woman and said, "Welcome!", then put her mask back in place. The woman stopped dead in her tracks, gaped at us with her mouth open, then turned away and stomped off muttering to herself.

Note: We were wearing surgical masks to demonstrate that we were not there to disrupt. Indeed, we held our silence for the 50 minutes the thing lasted. We did not shout, did not boo, did not hiss, did not jeer. Although we did shake our heads in disbelief a few times.
