Is this rabid rioting at town halls going to help progressive causes?
I see these video images and am revolted by their behavior. On the one hand, there are some that look like normal protesters outside a venue. I won't worry because liberals have been protesting like that for years. But when they won't let debate even go forward, push, shove and intimidate, I think they lose much of America.

I am hopeful these insurance guys don't win. It is clear to me the insurance companies want health care reform. To a point. The kind Baucus' committee was putting together essentially shoves lots of new business to insurance companies and doesn't provide a public option.

What the insurance industry wants these political terrorists and brown shirt thugs to accomplish is kill the public option. What Congress wants is something they can CALL reform. Even if it does not much more than had billions to insurance companies and place a mandate burden on poor people.

So...what does Obama want? What do we want? Are we going to be intimidated by these shock troops? Is Obama going to be? I sure the hell hope not. Because what it does is show the desperate crazies are the ones still left in the GOP.

1. The DCCC is smissing its bet if it doesn't use this footage to recruit Dems
and fund raise. If the Pigs want to get foolish, we can use it against them.

2. They're all starting to look like clinic bombers to me.
It shouldn't be hard to put together a nice video montage of spittle-flecked red faces with one line of text at the end:

Do you really want them in charge?

3. Yes
If we can show the people on the fence how insane and ignorant these people are, maybe we have a recruiting tool custom made by the GOP.

Personally, I see most of these people as ignorant and politically angry people that are suckered into being mobs by GOP operatives.

That is until some of these meeting devolve into real violence. Sorry...some pushing between a couple of people is not real violence - real violence is when groups of assholes enter these place and just start beating the shit out of people.

Vigorous debate can get passionate and a person can be forgiven for some minor anger. Mobs attacking people is when I get worried. Heck in Japan and Korea, fist fights in parliamentary meetings are an annual ritual.

4. No. But an effective response to it could.
And such a response could include using fora other than town hall meetings.

5. I agree. This is what is needed. A peaceful push back on that intimidation.
