Obama Should Tell Repubs "Time To PUT UP OR SHUT UP-Let's Have A REAL Televised DEBATE About HC!

Repubs can put up their best representative (whoever they want) to debate Obama in a town hall style debate, w/ a moderator etc. Let's have it out.

Disruptors, from either side, will be removed.

Throw down the gauntlet. If they refuse, they're cowards.

1. When has a president ever debated anyone outside of an election campaign?
I cannot think of any examples of it ever being done. I don't think that any Tom, Dick or Harry (or Sarah) should just get to share a stage with the President of the United States.

On the other hand, the White House could use Joe Biden in such an enterprise.

2. I Dunno, But He'd Wipe The Floor w/ Anyone They Would Put Up
And it would be great publicity and put the Repubs in a real tight spot; if they refuse, they will look like cowards who are uninterested in really discussing the issue. If they accept, Obama will clean their clocks.

3. I had a similar thought, but not with Obama doing it...

Yes, he's the best spokesperson but he also evokes hatred from the racist crazies and it gets to the point that few right-wing republicans will listen to him. The moderates are tuning everyone out.

They DON'T WANT TO HEAR.

I was wondering if there were two people -- one representing pro-healthcare reform the other against -- who most people respect.

I can't think of any. Each side is so polarized.

4. He hates debates....

.... at least according to Richard Wolffe. Believes they're a necessary evil during the campaign season. It's political pro-wrestling.

His solution for any problem is to bring both sides to the table, figure out what they're both wanting and come to an agreement that both are satisfied with.

And that's what he's doing.

For the record, *I* like your idea ... but that aint Obama. lol

Obama should debate anyone the Republicans choose to put up. Obama really wins on the facts. The fact is that countries that have equally good health care pay half of what we pay. But, the fact is the Republicans are so strongly against those systems, that the Democrats are pushing a compromise that will help a lot of people, save some money, and allow insurance companies to provide the same kinds of insurance they now provide. If he doesn't get caught up the minutia, he has the facts completely on his side. He's very good at debates, and would easily win on this subject.
