Health insurance =/= healthcare.
Edited on Fri Aug-07-09 04:36 PM by ColbertWatcher
We need to reframe the healthcare debate.

We know that the people screaming at the townhall meetings are funded by the insurance syndicates. So, when they claim to be against any real reform, why not call them what they really are?

Anti-healthcare.

Think about it:
Health insurance revolves around profits.

Healthcare, on the other hand, revolves around health.

Health insurance decisions are made by accountants, who, more often than not, have never met the patient, has never spoken with the patient and are miles away from the patient.

Healthcare decisions are made by the doctors and nurses and medical technicians, who, more often than not, are in the same room as the patient.

Health insurance benefits CEOs and investors.

Healthcare benefits patients.

Health insurance =/= healthcare; there's a difference and you know it.

The GOP has to start responding to our framing, not the insurance syndicate's. But, we can't get them to do that if we keep using their language.

So, let's start saying it: the GOP are anti-healthcare.

The GOP are anti-healthcare.

The GOP are anti-healthcare.

3. It is consistently misstated in the media, though... The terms seem
to be used interchangeably and cluelessly.

4. Right, which is why we have to start making the correction.
They've been getting away with it for too long.

Obama even hinted at it in his prime-time address on healthcare.

We've got to turn this conversation in our favor.
