http://www.repoweramerica.org/page/s/volunteerLast week, we learned that a pro-coal lobbying firm sent several forged letters to Congress that expressed opposition to clean energy legislation -- purportedly from minority groups, including the NAACP. We also learned that they would have continued sending these letters if they had not been caught. These shameful tactics prove that the opposition is willing to do whatever it takes to keep our country from transitioning to a new clean energy economy.
We don't need to forge anything. Transitioning America to a clean energy economy will create jobs and reduce our dependence on foreign oil. As your Senators return home for August recess next week, we urgently need your help to overcome the opposition's efforts to distort the facts about clean energy legislation.
Will you join us to mobilize your community in support of a clean energy economy that will create millions of new jobs and help solve the climate crisis?
http://www.repoweramerica.org/page/s/volunteerWith special interests in Washington trying to protect their share of the pie, preserving the status quo tends to be the rule rather than the exception. Especially when they have the ability to pour millions of dollars into ads and lobbyists that make them out to be bigger than they really are.
None of that changes the simple fact that transitioning to a clean energy economy means more jobs, more security, and less pollution. But if we're going to overcome the special interests in Washington, we need your help to break through the noise and send the Senate a powerful signal: When it comes to our economy and our climate: we need change -- not more of the same.
That's why we're ramping up in Indiana now. During our first weekend of canvassing, members like you knocked on more than 12,000 doors to spread the word about clean energy. And in the last two weeks, we've opened 20 new offices across the country -- from Alaska to Maine, North Dakota to South Carolina.
And that's just the beginning.
We need your help to make sure that when our Senators return to business in September it won't just be business as usual. Comprehensive clean energy legislation must be a priority and it must pass this year.
Volunteer and make your voice heard today.
Thanks for all that you do,
Dave Boundy
