One positive out of this town hall embroglio....
a bunch of inbred hicks in sweatpants are now learning Medicare is indeed a government-run health insurance program.

Oh, and another is I got to use the word embroglio. ;)

But seriously. I remember thinking how stupid so many of my fellow Americans must be when Bush won in 2004. 2000 you could sort of believe people had "Clinton fatigue" and didn't really know what they were getting into with Bush yada yada. But 2004? Fucking morons.

THere was a brief moment when we could revel in Obama's victory, but still. He won 52% of the popular vote, right? That is still a lot of crazies who were willing to put Palin a heartbeat away from the presidency over voting for a black guy.

We knew the stupid would go into overdrive. Well, it is happening.

1. Extra points for using "embroglio"

I still say that in the long run these racist teabirthers are a net loss for the republicans and the health care cartel. This shit is just plain ugly - and main stream America recoils at ugly, hate filled, spittle faced, racism.

edit = typo

2. yes. it seems to be so. I know a lot of "former" republicans.
if they ever get their crap together and dump the crazies as their prime mover, perhaps a lot of these people would head back toward them.

6. Let's hope that the RNC keeps listening to Limbaugh
and his *army* of "clones" like Hannity, Beck, Savage, Malkin, Coulter, etc. instead of (Meghan) McCain and Colin Powell. If things keep going like they have been going, the stink is bound to eventually get TOO bad for people like them to stay and drive them into the "Independent" or Democratic column. Given our party's mysterious tolerance for our "Blue Dogs", I'm surprised that more moderate Republicans, some of whom are probably even MORE moderate and Democratic than some of the Blue Dogs, don't think they will feel more at home in the Democratic Party.

The McCain/Palin ticket mortified a lot of Republicans like Colin Powell and drove them to voting for Obama or not voting at all instead of doing what they usually do and pull the lever for the Republican regardless of the candidate but it seems like, if we believe the polling data, most of them (and some right-leaning independents) have reverted back to their old ways and remain strangely committed to the very party that thought that putting McCain/Palin at the top of their Presidential ticket was a good idea- or at least tend to be more easily swept up in Republican propaganda.

I wonder what it is going to take for the non-whacko elements of the Republican Party to finally jump ship and leave the remainder to fade into obscurity? We got Specter (a mixed blessing to be sure but still important IMHO) but why can't we get Collins or Snowe to jump ship? What are they waiting for?

5. The one plus in all of this is that the clowns from DC can see exactly how ugly it can get out here.
They may want to rethink the un-countered, untrue FOX 'news'. The senators are seeing up close and personal how idiotic and dangerous the lower crust of America is.
