GEICO Gives Thumbs down to Glenn Beck and pulls its ads
Some of the nation's biggest advertisers are distancing themselves from Fox News host Glenn Beck after he called President Obama a racist during a July 28 broadcast.

Geico announced yesterday, that it has pulled its ads from Fox News Channel's "The Glenn Beck Program." Lawyers.com, which is owned by LexisNexis, has also vowed not to advertise during the program, per Color of Change. The African-American online political organization has been spurring advertisers to stop supporting the show.

Additionally, Procter & Gamble, Progressive Insurance and SC Johnson all said their ad placements during the broadcast were made in error and that they would be correcting the mistake moving forward, per Color of Change.

The controversy stemmed from Beck's comment that President Obama is a "racist" with "a deep-seated hatred for white people."

Geico spent more than a half a billion on ads last year, per the Nielsen Co. It spent more than a quarter of a billion for the first half of the year.

4. Interesting, I had no idea
Really curious what's going to happen with Beck, the number of major companies saying they ar eno longer going to spend advertising $ is almost snowballing.

5. I don't know--my husband watched him for the first time the other night, since
he was trapped with Fox News at work, and he couldn't believe the crazy. Hopefully he'll just become too toxic even for Fox.

7. I don't watch, but
I sometimes listen for a few minutes on my XM radio to (radio show) or from (TV show) work. Scary and crazy but not stupid (unfortunately).

6. That's good. It was unnerving when that talking lizard would come on...
...And I would realize that he was less of a clown then Glenn Beck. On the other channels the lizard and the cavemen are the ones that get all the laughs and attention, but Glenn Beck sort of outshines them in the realm of silliness.

8. You hear that?
That's the sound of all the money GEICO is saving by pulling its ads from Glenn Beck.

Poor Glenn. He always feels like somebody's not watching him.
