years ago in Arizona about property taxes going to schools. Alot of seniors were furious that they had to pay taxes to support schools when they didn't have any kids! Forget that generations of seniors before them paid taxes so their fucking kids could go to decent schools, or that we're a community and we take care of our children, or that plenty of young and mid-aged couples don't have children either. No, it's all about them.

I can't tell you how many stories I've read about senior communities with "no kids allowed" rules making a grandparent kick their grandchild out of their house after the kid has moved in with them because their parents are in rehab, prison or dead. They have no tolerance at all regardless of the poor family's situation -- the kid has to go with or without grandma. Period.

How did they ever get the name the "greatest generation?" They sound more like the "selfish generation."

college classes (I was in my forties and a non-traditional student) about the Gray Panthers and how much Social Security he was getting. He bragged for a while and then talked bad about anyone who was getting any government assistance including food stamps, grants and etc. His special gripe was single mothers who were forced to seek help. He would then go back to talk about how much money he was getting and how much he was enjoying her life. Well I was a newly single mother who was struggling trying to make it while ex was not paying child support or anything on shared debt.

Now I believe that you do earn your SS, but he made me resent him intensely. I never felt the same about that generation or the fact that they were receiving more SS than anyone had before or has since (I could be wrong here, but this is the impression I was given).

We can't assume that some folks aren't letting some of the truth get through.

I'm reminded of the man on Sixty Minutes who though Obama was Muslim but was going to vote for him anyway.
