So what happens next?
So what happens in a few years when we discover that the co-ops don't work? The right will all say: "I told you health care reform was a stupid idea!" The left will have forgotten that it was RW obstructionism that caused this disaster. And bankruptcies will continue to rise and people will be fined for not having insurance that they can't afford. Subsidies will help. But insurance prices will continue to rise, and the subsidies will not keep pace.

Maybe in another 20 years we will revisit this and finally do it right. But I really doubt it.

1. "The left will have forgotten ...

Not this leftist. I will respond that THIS was NOT health care reform and I will continue the health care fight.

4. Sure, you'll remember...
and I'll remember. And I would be willing to bet most of DU will remember. But in the eyes of the public (fed by the media) it will be regarded as the Liberal experiment that failed at taxpayers cost. The blame will be left on the left doorstep. Not the right.

It will cost the Presidency and the Congress. The RW will be back in control, and this time they will be even worse than the Bush regime! That's the cost of no prosecutions.

5. That will cause me to fulfill my 1980 threat
to become an expat. I am older now and have the means. The RW free marketers will shred what's left of my family business. There will be no need to stay.

2. Well..
That's better than them saying that about the watered-down public option when it doesn't work.

3. How?

Personally, I felt that the PO was a decent (though not great) compromise from Single Payer.

If we couldn't get PO through, there was no way in Hell SP would have made it.
