Why We Need Health Care Reform
By BARACK OBAMA
Published: August 15, 2009

You can read President Obama's Op-Ed piece at:

Guess he just forgot about how important a public option is in health care reform we can believe in.

2. As I recall
he told Congress to come up with a plan. Democrats too cautious. Repubs screaming for failure, everything is normal. In the meantime idiots are showing how stupid and misinformed they are. Insurance companies blowing their lobby money. Congress presents shitty plan corrupted by insurance companies, he vetoes it, puts forward his plan.

It seems to me like a perfect strategy.

3. He didn't have a healthcare plan because that's not his job?

Well, that certainly worked out well!

President Obama will sign whatever the health insurance industry representatives in Congress decide on.

And that bill will be supported by many liberals and progressives on the grounds that "it's better than nothing!"

I'm not so sure about that. Especially if we are required to buy private health insurance.

5. What's Your Point
Just because he doesn't mention it doesn't mean it isn't part of the plan.

Some people are going to switch off as soon as they hear/see it's President Obama. Others will tune out at "public option." Obama is laying out his goals and making his case for why reform is necessary. A public option is not a goal, it's a means to that end.

Of course, we well could see "reform" that doesn't include a public option, but we can't draw that conclusion from this piece.

6. It is pathetic, my friend. THE one real criteria to ensure real health reform

And, STILL this board protects the corporate spokesman.

They give the Bushbots a real run for their money.

7. Do not blame Congress. This is Obama's to win or lose and he is
losing me. He just wants to shift the blame to others. Obama just wants to sign something he can claim credit for that will not get corps too mad.

long that I eventually give up.

11. Go to your nearest Town Hall, and shout real loud at the media
about what it is you want.
That should get you some attention.....
Hell, you might just appear on the 11:00 o'clock news,
and perhaps what you have to say about this President
can be played in a loop-D-loop that will make your view
seem like the view of the majority.

Remember, just repeat over and over again,
Single Payer, Public Option or Death to Obama...

could work.

14. "you will finally have quality, affordable options once we pass reform"
Quoth the President.

I'll tell him next time I see him that it doesn't count unless he uses the exact phrase "public option".
