To Quote Winston Churchill...
"Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning."

So some folks are just going to give up? After 7 months? Go back and re-read your history books. Change, REAL LASTING CHANGE takes time. Civil rights? Women's rights? Gay rights? (we're still pushing that one up the hill)

To keep with Churchill for a moment, the Allies didn't immediately invade Europe once the United States entered the war. North Africa, Sicily and Italy were first. Over in the Pacific, we "island hopped", winning tactical battles here and there and cutting off the Japanese supply lines long before we even thought about the home islands.

The lunatics that we see at these town halls, posting online, sending racial emails etc. are yelling because they're losing. Not because they're winning.

I saw a thread on here the other day talking about how the anti-Iraq war protesters were ignored by the MSM. Well true, but they did keep marching and protesting and pushing and finally people began to realize that we were right all along. Selma? Birmingham? Stonewall?

If more tough obstacles get thrown in the way of social changes, the harder we should fight. Fire hoses and screaming crowds be dammed

The moral arc of the universe is long, but it bends toward justice...

3. I liked it.
And if I may, I would like to quote the venerable Senator Blutarksy:

"Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?"

5. Yes, it's an incremental world
Life is not like the movies; that's why there are movies.

Nobody ever gives up power.

What we may really be seeing here is a fragmentation of American politics: the right is in a mess, and the left is getting more and more dismayed. As numbers of the right decrease, the solidarity and practicality arguments that have kept liberals in line with the centrism of the last 30 years becomes less useful to keep the disenchanted in line.
