The State of Texas has a "insurance of last resort" for automobiles
If you have had multiple DUIs or multiple accidents where you are at fault, then you are STILL able to purchase insurance from the State to comply with the financial responsibility requirements.

Why can't we figure out something to keep people healthy, rested, and productive?

1. We had a similar program in NJ
Must have been about 30 years ago. Anyone who couldn't afford to buy car insurance could get insurance through this program. Didn't have to be a high risk driver. It's no longer available and I don't remember why. CRS

Helped me out as a new driver. NJ has very HIGH insurance rates.
