Media running with this "Obama has given up the Public Option" - Proof: Use of Sliver and Essential
and of course, too many DUers are buying this shit like it's a juicy burger.

Shame on you for believing anything other than the opposite of whatever the fucked up media says.

Call their funky asses, and ask them to back up what they are saying with more than just suspicions and vague connections based on two words for goodness sakes!

We can't be as stupid as they are, can we?

1. Sebellius botched it.
Sebelius Misspoke?
An administration official told Marc Ambinder that HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius "misspoke" when she told CNN that a government run health insurance option "is not an essential part" of reform.

"This official asked not to be identified in exchange for providing clarity about the intentions of the President. The official said that the White House did not intend to change its messaging and that Sebelius simply meant to echo the president, who has acknowledged that the public option is a tough sell in the Senate and is, at the same time, a must-pass for House Democrats, and is not, in the president's view, the most important element of the reform package."

9. So are the defeatists that never liked Obama
and are using this an excuse to bash him.

Funny how they never trysted the media before, but now take all this speculation floated out by the insurance companies and their vassals as God's truth.

They cannot see that they are trying to defuse the vocal minority opposition to the public option by down-playing it as only part of the overall health-care reform.

Obama even said on his talk just Saturday that he still supports the public option, but I guess no one here heard that.

20. "said it WAS essential just not the MOST essential!!!" ????
Would you please consult an Encyclopedia?

"Essential" means "MUST be included". There is no such thing as "more essential" or "most essential".

If that throws you, Google "sine qua non", and understand that the Public Option cannot be either "more sine qua non" or "less sine qua non".

If it still doesn't register, try "It is what it is and it ain't what it ain't!"

11. "sliver"
To me that means a part of but not the whole health care bill. I think Obama meant to take the focus off that part of the bill because misinformed people just can't see past the word "government".

12. Context and circumstance are everything.
Given the number of problems that need to be addressed and the question to which he was responding during that town hall, "sliver" should not be meant to construe "insignificant".

18. Because the public option is important, but the most important part of health care reform
is making it affordable and available to everyone who needs it. That's the bottom line. That's what the administration is trying to do.

They will continue to advocate for a strong public option that will compete directly with private insurers because that's what they believe the best solution to the problem is.

13. Denial
You people are in serious denial about Obama, and BTW I was a big supporter of his. NO MORE...he's run from every fight with the thugs and they have his number, so don't expect him to rise to the occasion and insist on a public option. Get used to it...there won't be one, and "reform" will be a sham. I don't like having to write this, but I also don't like pretending that Obama has the guts to stand up to the opposition. What a shame.

If he has any clue or stomach for fighting the insurance companies, lobbyists, and Teapublicans on this, it's a well-kept secret.
