Walmart, CVS, Best Buy, GMAC Among 8 Major Companies To Pull Ads From Glenn Beck Show
Walmart, Best Buy, CVS, and GMAC are among eight major advertisers that have confirmed pulling their advertising from Fox News' "Glenn Beck" program in light of his comments that President Obama is a racist.

The advertisers did not pull their spots from Fox News, but rather requested that their ads do not air during Beck's 5PM program.

The advertisers in the latest round of pull-out from Beck's show and their statements to

Allergan (maker of Restasis): "We reviewed our commercial schedule, and based on your feedback, we've put any programming featuring Glenn Beck on our "do not air" list. This means that you will no longer see any Restasis ads during programming featuring Glenn Beck. Thanks again for bringing this to our attention."
Ally Bank (a unit of GMAC Financial Services): "Ally advertises on a broad spectrum of programs to reach our potential customers. Our advertising is not an endorsement of editorial content on any program. We have ceased to advertise on the Glenn Beck program."
Best Buy
Broadview Security: "Given the considerations, we have requested of Fox News not to include us in the rotation that would have our commercials running on Glenn Beck's show."
CVS: "While advertising on Fox is part of our communication plan, we had not requested time on Glenn Beck's show specifically. We have instructed our advertising agency to inform Fox to ensure Glenn Beck's program is not part of our advertising plan."
Re-Bath: "...We are no longer airing our commercials on the Glenn Beck Show..."
Travelocity: "We did not specifically place our ad on the show. We buy ads in bulk and then they are placed somewhat randomly. However, we have now specifically asked that our ads do not appear during this show."
Wal-Mart: "Walmart today confirmed the retailer pulled ads from the Glenn Beck show on August 3rd,"

These companies join a growing list of advertisers to pull their ads from Beck's show, including ConAgra, GEICO, Lawyers.com, Men's Wearhouse, Procter & Gamble, Progressive Insurance, RadioShack, Roche, SC Johnson, Sanofi-Aventis, Sargento, and State Farm Insurance.

1. But Still Not UPS!
I wrote to them, and here was the reply:

Thank you for your e-mail regarding our recent advertising. We value your input and take your comments very seriously.

UPS is very sensitive to the type of television programming with which we associate our messaging. While our advertising schedules are purchased months in advance, we work with our agencies to monitor programming for offensive, inappropriate or controversial content as our schedules run. We do not, however, always have complete visibility into which programs will be promoted in purchased shows.

Occasionally, our advertising ends up near polarizing content. If we find that this becomes a consistent pattern, we will re-evaluate our commitment to particular programs or networks.

Please contact us if you need any additional assistance.

What a load.

3. I Tivo'd Beck today and he is basically out of national brand sponsors

An exception today was Tylenol but that could have also been a local ad placement.

Lots of Fox ads, and right wing advertisers, i.e.WSJ Gold merchants, etc.

14. Guess you couldn't really blame Tylenol for advertising on BecKKK's show.
I know I get a headache if I watch him for more than 2 minutes.

5. I wish these companies would not advertise on Faux at all but at least
they are expressing that they do not want ads run during Beck's program. Its a step.

Glenn Glenn, the racist.

9. I Tivo'd beck today and Friday and there were no GM ads

There was one ad for a home tractor from Honda.

You may have been seeing ads from local dealers that you thought were national ads.

I recommend that you call any local dealers who advertise and let them know your feelings.

15. dated 3 weeks ago July 29th

Virtually all major brands have dropped him.

Lots of foundations, fox ads and small pocket firms - Dog washing kit and gold exchange service.

7. I hope they all leave
Last night someone told me that they thought he was crazy. I said, I don't think he's crazy, I think he is trying to make money. I think he is just willing to say anything if he thinks he can make money from it. This sort of thing is the best way to get him to shut up. I don't think he has any morals, but I think he cares about his pocket book.

10. I too was shocked.
However, I only trust them to do what is good for their pocketbook. I would bet it had nothing to do with how they feel about Beck or his comments.

12. I think Wal-Mart realizes that there is only so much money in the hands of the poor.
They'd like to get into the middle class market.

17. I have to admit Wal-Mart is starting to do some good with themselves
They have come out in support of healthcare reform and they were the first to come out with the $4 generic prescriptions.

I still don't shop there but they are trying, which is big for a place like Wal-Mart.

16. Dropping Beck is a smart corporate move.
Eventually one of his cretinous followers is going to do something truly shocking. If I'm a corporation, I don't want my name associated with fomenting political violence. Now is the time to get out, not after it happens.
