Governor Dean speaks the truth on Countdown.
He said that when he took over as Chairman of the Party, the Democrats were fearful and thought they had to become more like Republicans, and were turning off the base of the Party. He said that much of that fear remains in the Party on this healthcare debate. Furthermore, he stated that there could not be any reform without a public option and that the Repubs had no intent to support anything that the Democrats come up with. President Obama should forget about trying to be "bi-partisan' with these folks and just go ahead and do what FDR would have done. Pass the legislation by yourself and the people will reward the President and the Democrats in 2010.

1. It's all true - and once again HD was great! imo it's been obvious...
...from the beginning that Obama's bipartisan approach was crazy ~ like cozying up to monsters. Best to ditch it asap and move ahead.

2. Good lord, but I wish our party would stop thinking about the
distractions, and do what we sent them their to do.

4. He also said:
"I think it's (the public option) in much better shape than people think."

"I think that it's gonna pass (health care reform) and it's gonna have a public option in it and I think it'll be on the president's desk in December."

"They'll get through this. The Senate is a complicated, difficult place but the majority of Democrats want a public option, the Blue Dogs have signed off on a public option, they need to do that because that's what the American people want and at the end of the day that's what we'll have to have."

Hopefully what Howard Dean said will help calm the nerves of some of the doom and gloom crowd although I tend to think it won't because some people only seem to be able to function as long as they are convinced the world will soon be coming to an end.

11. he wanted to step down. he did not want to be the mouthpiece for the
whitehouse, no matter who won. he made that clear long before obama was nominated, let alone elected.
doesn't fit some people's paranoid mindset to believe that story, tho.
