So I think I am getting it.. Its not the meat of the subject, but how it is phrased.
How could I be so dense not to figure this out before now. Having true depth and meaning to a subject or bill has no point at all.. it is how loud we yell it.. preferably with a f%ck you added for emphasis.

Just watched Gibbs, answer a couple of reporters.. repeat the answer, repeat it again.. because he says it again..but apparently it is not the answer they want.. so they ask again.

Well my dear Gibbs, I guess the media and some here at good old DU want you to do a Cheney, and just tell them f&ck you. Make sure you do it in less than 5 words.. Be sure to Yell it at the top of your lungs. Makes no difference what it is, as long as you yell it, it will be okay. Apparently that is all we can respond to now.

1. Come on - it's silly to pretend that the emphasis hasn't changed...
Healthcare reform became health insurance reform and the public option went from being essential to but a sliver of the plan.

You can't blame reporters for noticing.

6. Okay, where has Obama changed his stance since he started running for President?
He always said, he would "try" for bipartisanship. He never ran on single payer.. He always talked of insurance reform. He ran on letting congress shape the bills..

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO... wheres the beef?

17. I know that but I want the poster to tell me what they think the "cause"
is they think they will fight for. I don't get these fatalist types at all. If there is nothing left to fight for and Obama sold us all out and there is nothing we can do, then what is the "cause"?

24. If you were really paying attention to to 4 of the 5 bills proposed...
...then you would realize that public option is still extremely likely. A large portion of Democrats in the House won't even allow the bill to hit President Obama's desk without it.

Well, going from saying the bill "must" have a public option to saying...
"whether or not" it has a public option is more than merely flexible. The "sliver" comment was also questionable imo.

16. I don't think it's too late to rethink the whole thing...
imo it has to be a Democratic bill (with Collins and Snowe) and have a strong public option or a phased-in offer of Medicare for more and more Americans, beginning with the poor and uninsured.

20. LOL you two and your Peace Avatars!

For the record, I agree with Peacetrain; the president hasn't changed his position.

Also, regarding use of the word "insurance", it's long been used with other programs, SSI, and Medicare for example.

So saying Health Insurance reform is not such an evil thing.

A public option, even a single payer plan, will be a form of health insurance.

:patriot:

Rock On, Peacetrain!

22. Yeah. Like the "The Old-Age and Survivors Insurance Trust Fund"?
Use of the word Insurance does not assure private sector management.

Some examples:

The Old-Age and Survivors Insurance Trust Fund: https://www.socialsecurity.gov/OACT/ProgData/describeoasi.html

Disability Insurance Trust Fund: https://www.ssa.gov/OACT/ProgData/describedi.html

Medicare (Hospital Insurance, Part A): http://www.ssa.gov/policy/data_sub53.html

I won't buy into the word selection drama.

27. I don't know. I don't think there are many "accidents" but neither can I be sure they've changed...
...the words as much as the reporting has magnified selected passages.

I'm sure an academic study could track any changes over time.

But even if evidence was found that they have changed over time, more than one explanation may exist.

That's my honest take on it.

I don't think there's been a substantive change in what he's fighting for, what he wants.

There are a lot of factors, we have to see what happens.

And if he's a shithead I'll be angry.

Thank you NYC for noticing how wonderful WE do look :)

We will get that public option.. The President is not one to stuff anything at you.. he gives people ample information and hopefully they will find their way. But the one thing he was adamant in stating last month.. There will be a Public Option when he signs that bill..

Edit for grammar boo boo

31. We should sort of say F*ck You -- It works for conservatives
I'm not advising Obama to literally say Fuck You.

But damn it all, he should say "This is what I want, and I'm gonna fight fot it. AND we won the damn election."

yes, half the country will be cheesed off. But they will be cheesed off whatever happens. they don ;t like anything that Obama does, and they don't like liberals.

If we believe somnthign is the right thing to do, then we ought to put lines in the samd.
