We've been at this HC reform stuff for about 60 years and we're
expecting Obama to solve it in its entirety, in 6 months. What is up with that?

1. And apparently he should do it without the Senate
He should exercise his mystery force magical powers to make Senators agree.

2. It's not a problem that actually takes 60 years to solve.
All it takes is willingness to enact reforms that have been well understood for 60 years.

4. It doesn't require time to dig anything out. It requires courage to pass legislation.
It may be that our current Congress lacks that courage. But let's call it what it is. It's not a process that needs lots of time to happen. They could have passed it months ago, if they wanted to.

They don't want to.

5. if they've been so well understood, and it's such a simple matter
why hasn't it happened yet?

It's a hell of alot easier to build from scratch, then to try and remodel an existing monstrosity. The problem is, there are many tenants living in the "building"- and some of them are pretty resistant to change, not to mention the slumlords who are making money off of people's suffering.

6. I believe the demise of Reaganomics is propelling the current drive...
Before the Wall Street and banking meltdown, there might have been some belief...maybe only a modicum...that, by giving the wealthy oodles of money, they will lavish it on the common man by investing in business and industry here in this country. However, we saw just the opposite: We saw greed and avarice unparalleled ever in the history of this country. We saw the upper percenters grab their swag and squirrel it away in secret, offshore accounts in a big "FUCK YOU" to average Americans and in an attempt to escape paying taxes. And this has been going on for at least 30 years.

So now, perhaps there's a "screw the rich, I want what's coming to me and I WANT IT NOW!!!" mindset that has become the public-plan health care Juggernaut.

7. I was expecting the Dems to fight harder and kick ass -- just like the
Republicans have been doing -- and continue to do. Like they promised.

11. I know -- he's been blowing me away. I think Obama needs to take him
AND Mr. Potter (health ins whistleblower) on the road with him.

I know it's not over and I still have hope, but I'm tired of listening to the mouthy Republicans -- where are the mouthy dems? There are a few, but they seem to be getting drowned out.

Here's to an outcome that's fair and compassionate for all :toast:

9. IMO it's ludicrous to expect anyone to solve HC under the constraints insure everyone without
increasing taxes.
