I call a truce between Kucinich and Obama supporters
Edited on Tue Aug-18-09 04:33 PM by Becky72
Now that it's been discovered that the creator of the "Joker" poster is a Dennis Kucinich supporter, there appears to be some tension and finger-pointing here against all Kucinich supporters.

I say to Obama supporters and Kucinich supporters: Let's get along. Let constructive (not destructive) criticisism, reign supreme in this big tent that is DU.

Supporters of all candidates have made mistake. The Obama campaign attacked Hillary Clinton with a "Harry and Louis" ad (a right-wing tactic) attacking the invididual mandate that Obama now supports.

Paul Krugman condemned this ad earlier this year in a piece titled "Harry, Louise and Barack." http://www.nytimes.com/2009/05/11/opinion/11krugman.html

Here are the 2009 and 1993 ads side to side:

Progressive analyst Ezra Klein called said "he (Obama) decided to respond to the inadequacies of his own policy by fear-mongering against not only better policy, but the type of policy he's probably going to have to eventually adopt." http://www.prospect.org/csnc/blogs/ezraklein_archive?month=02&year=2008&base_name=health_care_debate_mandates_as

Mark Penn, adviser to Hillary Clinton, produced some material that sought to portray Obama as foreign.

Etcetera. Nobody is perfect, and if a war begins, everyone will have ammnunition to unlease against the other. Chaos will ensue.

So let's not pelt our neighbor with bricks if our house if made out of glass, guys. Let's keep it civil and leave our difference behind.

1. We are two different animals.
Kucinich supports stand fast and fight for what they believe is right, even if they never win, and never make any progress.

Obama/ Democrat supporters are willing to trade progress for a watered down version of what they believe is right.

There can never be true peace between these factions, only armistace.

8. Hence, why the Rethugs find us easy prey. Fighting each other instead
of those who really are the enemy is nonsense.

2. Obama was elected president - as much as people like Kucinich
he hasn't yet proven electable as president. You have to hold power to promote change - making noise is good but it isn't enough.

4. That's part of why I supported Obama over Hillary.
The individual mandate was a bad idea last year, and it's a bad idea now. I will feel completely betrayed if Obama signs a bill that contains it.

6. The more his supporters try to cover up their hatred
for Obama and Clinton the less relevant they become.

primaries for me actually. I think I said that then. LOL.
I would add that we need to fight the blue dogs and insurance companies over each other as well.

9. I liked Kucinich's "Wake Up America" speech at the DNC in 2008.
He's okay by me. Obama is my man, though.

14. Hate to say this
and ruin a (rare these days) constructive thread but I doubt this guy is really a Kucinich supporter. He stated he shared Dem views of foreign policy and Repug views of domestic policy. I wouldn't be surprised if he threw Kucinich's name out there to sheild himself some.

15. The funny thing here is
that not everyone that criticizes Obama is a Kucinich supporter or Clinton supporter. That's just the standard epithet that the cheerleaders use whenever they don't have the right talking point to counter anything.
