A bill without a REAL public option won't be bipartisan, it will sell out the left

All this talk of bipartisanship....

Hmmmm....Given that the LEFT (and the left is a MAJORITY, but you would never know it with all this talk of acquiesence to the Republicans)...given that the left is the majority, and the majority wants reform that includes government guranteed access to affordable health care for every citizen, it is IMPOSSIBLE to create a bipartisan bill that takes out a REAL public option (not a watered down, impotent bill that will not act as a true competitor to insurance companies and force them to reign in their costs to compete) and be called bi--partisan.

Bi-partisanship involves TWO SIDES. If one side is completely sold out, the bill will not be bi-partisan.

This talk of bipartisanship is complete b.s. Bipartisanship is not possible. And, if Obama is playing 'chess' as some here purport, I think we can all agree that the other side has been exposed and gone on record as being completely unworkable. Okay, so the board is set up. Great.

Now, he can freely go about passing the best health care reform stating that after months of negotiation, the other side will not budge. If he refuses to do this, and he continues to use 'bipartisanship' as the goal (when it is clearly impossible) instead of working to press the dems to support the best legislation including house bill hr676, then we will know that his goal is not to produce real health reform, but to use the blatantly false cover of bipartisanship to press for health insurance reform that benefits private industry over the people.

And, I am sure everyone here agrees that Obama is smart enough to comprehend these simple facts. If he is the chess master or the poker master and he is playing them all and he really means to use this as the grand opportunity to smack them down those who have oppossed true reform.

1. single payer is not going to pass in your life time.
Public option is favored by the majority and is passable.

3. I said including HR626, I said work towards the best reform

Push for the strongest legislation he can get.

My post was not about single payer, it was about Obama standing up and pressing for a true health insurance reform bill and including discussion of the House bill.

I would support a REAL public option, as well.

Everywhere on this board, people are making claims this is a set up and now Obama will move in and pounce on the opportunity to move forward with his agenda. They are purporting this was a deliberate tactic by Obama and now he can move forward having proven the otherside unworkable.

Okay, great.

Go do it.

If he doesn't and continues to push for 'bipartisanship', a clearly unworkable approach, then he will have shown that his goal was not to advocate and push for the best possible reform he could get, it will show he has put the corporate interests of profit over the people.

Is that not a logical assumption?
