We're so close, let's not fuck this up.

Stay with us, Senator Kennedy. We can do this, we will do this.

3. Yes. That gives me a chill. Terrific Idea.
I don't doubt that it's under consideration--I hope so.

4. Because health care for all has been the cause of Kennedy's life
I think it should be made known to his friends and colleagues in the Senate that his dying wish is for HCR with a public option to pass. He has many friends in the Senate on both sides of the aisle, and that may even let us grab a few repuke votes.

22. Is there some sorta way to name the future public option plan after Kennedy?
Kinda like the Pell Grant was named after Claiborne Pell, former RI U.S. senator? If we get a public, government run insurance plan, it's going to have to be named something. I couldn't think of a more deserving tribute!

8. He's the last of that band of brothers who mean so much to me, to many of us...
Damn if we can't get this done, this simple and obvious thing.

9. I think Obama's election helped to keep Ted Kennedy going for these last few months.
We're so close to a healthcare bill.

C'mon Dems! Do it for Ted!

No one in my life has done as much for the common good as Ted Kennedy has. We were blessed to have known him.

19. K/R - and a reminder from Inauguration Day:
Chris Matthews (oh, well) recalled that Ethel Kennedy told Barack Obama that "The torch is being passed to you."

I'm confident that the President has that in mind.

20. Yes, and....
Much as we all second guess his particular words and moves right now (he doesn't seem very fired up)...

...I trust that this is THE most important thing, at least as important as winning the white house...

...And I can not wait until he lets go with the energy he's presently keeping close to the vest.

Thanks for that memory re Ethey Kennedy!

21. I hope so too, but the last two days, I'm starting to fear the end is really near.
Edited on Thu Aug-20-09 08:47 PM by Sebastian Doyle
First was the press release from Teddy's camp asking Massachusetts to change the law so his successor could be appointed upon his death (and the state not be left one senator short in this crucial time).

And then today MSNBC announcing they were going to run a special on the Kennedy brothers some time next week.... Kinda had the same vibe as when NBC was announcing that Farrah Fawcett special the week before she passed, that ended up running after she had died.

I truly hope I'm wrong about that, but it seems that they're not expecting him to be around much longer. :(
