Enough of this "nothing goes to the floor unless we know we can get cloture" shit. Make them vote to keep the filibuster going over and over. Make it a roll call over and over. Give them no cover. Make them eat it. Make them wear it. Grow a pair, wouldya Harry?

4. More importantly, make the DEMOCRATS truly blocking reform stand up with them.
Senator Kennedy's situation aside, it is only Democrats that can successfully filibuster. The Republicans talk a good game, but they are irrelevant.

5. That's true. Hang it on Lieberman and Spector for all it's worth
Especially Spector, since he's coming up for reelection in 2010 and Sestak can beat him in the primary. And especially since Reid and Schumer will be pressuring everyone to let Spector have the nom.

8. Specter has said he is for the public option
I don't think he could risk siding with the Republicans on a filibuster. I would think Lieberman, since his vote is no longer necessary to retain leadership, and since he isn't really a Democrat anymore, could be pressured by the loss of seniority to stay in line. I would be more concerned with Baucus, Conrad, Landrieu, Nelson and Lincoln.

6. Oh Hell Yes!
Where or where is the downside to this? Hold up all business in the senate until meaningful health care reform passes. No other votes until we have a bill signed into law.

7. Not unless the Dems are going to push back.
Having the Repubs kill the bill by filibuster is not an option.

9. Pushing the Dems is part of the objective of this strategy
by making everything a roll call vote, you force them to make it clear whose side they are on.

10. It will not happen. Despite what Harry Reid said a few days ago, he does not have the courage to
try for a cloture vote on health care. Unless all the Democrats who are against Obama on health care state that they will vote for cloture, he won't try. You don't want to put anyone on the spot, you know.

11. Won't happen.
Senators are too self-important to work that much, and given the decrepitude of so many of them, they'd be keeling over left and right if they had to.

12. Damn right!
Not just on health care, on EVERYTHING.

By allowing the mere 'threat' of a filibuster hold up important legislation, spineless Harry Reid is essentially letting the Repugs run the Senate with only 40 votes.

I do not understand why this is such a difficult concept!

13. A REAL filibuster ... none of this "filibuster-in-name-only" crap
Make them stand there and talk for hours. Days, if necessary. Let them stand there for the whole country to see. While they're doing that, Dems should blanket the airwaves with a consistent message: the GOP doesn't want Americans to have affordable health care.

15. Why the fear of filibustering?
Make the repugnantcans go to the mattresses and filibuster. Let the entire

country see how vapid they are. Seems like the Dems will not go down in defeat

for the principal of an idea, or for the benefit of their base.
