Where is our "HAMMER"?
Tom Delay became known as "The Hammer" for his enforcement of party discipline in close votes and his reputation for taking political retribution on opponents. He compelled House Republicans to unite to an unprecedented degree, especially in support of President George W. Bush's agenda.

Now, don't get me wrong. I hate this fucker. He should be rotting in jail. But, we need a force like him on OUR side, the peoples side. WE need someone willing to knock heads and take names. In the 104th Congress, Delay successfully whipped 300 out of 303 bills.

WHERE IS OUR HAMMER?

2. We obviously shun his kind of approach to progress...IMHO, Intimidation and Fear produced
the existence of W Bush....DeLay had a part in that...thats Negative accomplishment..as demo'ed by our current status....

5. It has a short term impact, but long term it fails.
It always does.

The Republicans often win the battle, but we often win the war.

This won't be any different.

7. Tom DeLay had no particular leadership skills.
He was covered by corrupt colleagues in Congress, in the White house and in the DoJ--and most of all by corporate dollars. None of these forces will stand behind a progressive Democrat.

8. It SHOULD be Pelosi.
Let's face - Republicans hate her and she's never going to lose her position AND she has an overwhelming majority in the House. She has nothing whatsoever to lose. If ever there were a person well suited to be a hammer, it's Pelosi, and yet she hasn't done that at all.
