1. 39 no's in the Senate? That is appalling.
That's not even enough to get it through reconciliation. Harry Reid needs to go. He's the worst majority leader ever.

4. I thought we had at lease 50 Dems in support of it.
What a bunch of pigs. Public option is good for them, but not for the rest of us.

6. Right now 16 have either not stated publicly or are hedging
One thing for certain, there is currently more difinitive support for than against the public option.

7. That is no longer accurate- about half of those 16 have
since declared support.

31. With reconciliation, we'll get enough.
Edited on Sat Aug-22-09 02:27 PM by backscatter712
We can afford to lose ALL of the Republicans, and a few of the more obnoxious Conservadems like Baucus, Conrad, Landrieu, Lincoln...

There will be heavy, heavy pressure on the Dems to not be monkey-wrenching health care reform when it's down to the final floor vote. Maybe tools like Baucus and Conrad will resist, but not all the fence-sitters will. We'll get 50.

3. looks like the insurance industry is very smart with their donations...
what else could be the reason for anyone in the Senate to "NO". Disappointing, but we still have to wait and see.

Does anyone read anything before commenting?

The 39 are Republicans.

20. Refering to it as 'donations' is rather laughable
a more accurate term would be legalized bribery.

8. Reconciliation: I think i read that going this route could ELIMINATE Public option
So aiming for the 51 votes might not be the real problem. I wish it was since getting to 51 with only 6 (+1 from Biden) out of 16 seems easy.

option makes it into a final bill it will have his support.

By the way, when did Wyden become such a tool?

Ok, I rarely go all caps on anything....

....but here we are all moaning and sniping and we unrecommend the most useful post of the day.

write some fucking emails and get Wyden and Warner and Nelson, et al, on the right side of this.

Pardon my caps.

This is important, in case you didn't know...
