I can't wrap my head around the idea that we have to work with Republicans
They will not give us a single vote, they are working emphatically with every ounce of their being to bring down the president. They hate him and they would rather see 47 million people die than to give them any sort of free coverage. I am a huge Obama supporter and for the first time I am actually angry with him for continuing to dumb down what is right for people just to cave to these people who just want to hurt him.

I know this isn't a popular opinion but I want a president who is willing to push ahead without the Republicans when it's needed. We need to think about the people, not a bunch of assholes who only care about rich companies staying rich.

1. I wondered about that when we gained a majority in the House.
The Republicans never worried about having a filibuster proof majority. Yet, the first thing out of Pelosi's mouth was that impeachment was off the table because they didn't have the votes. :wtf: Now we have to compromise with the Republicans to get their votes. We don't need their votes. Too bad there aren't some good investigative journalists out there willing to dig deep into the present Congress to discover what their real motives are. We have our suspicion that many of them are corrupt, but it certainly would be great to discredit those so we can get some business done.

2. Many are learning for the first time that 60 Dem seats isn't enough to do what we'd like.
Especially on something like Health Care.

It's frustrating that with something like a fucking phony war and the IWR, even Dems jumped on the stupid deadly costly ship.

But try to something good for the people and...

5. It's not the Republicans that are the problem
They're irrelevant. It's the Democrats that are the problem. We have a huge majority in the House, and a large majority in the Senate. What we're lacking is somebody with the ability to crack the Dems into line. That and a collective spine. Force these assholes to filibuster, show them for the worthless, obstructionist scum that they are.

Instead we're saddled with a bunch of Blue Dogs and others who would rather play politics that do the right thing.

6. We should combine this idea with Cleita's above
Find a couple of blue dogs from safe Dem states (i.e. with strong Dem control) and burn them with an extramarital affair, tax problem, undocumented domestic help, whatever. A Dem governor would replace the dog and this would send a STRONG message to the rest.

For example, Ben Chandler is an unimportant blue dog from an unimportant state (Kentucky). The state is controlled by the Dem party and has a Dem gov. Burn this guy and get someone more progressive in his place. The rest of the blue dogs would immediately fall into line.

Burn one unimportant buffoon and we can clear the way for single payer. Cool!
