Now is the time to focus on the debates - give people a reason to vote FOR
Kerry, rather than just AGAINST Bush.

My mom, a never-voted-for-a-Republican Democrat is talking always about writing in Mickey Mouse. People where I work hate George Jr., but don't care enough for Kerry to vote for him.

The debates are the perfect opportunity to convince people that Kerry is a man of vision worth voting for.

We need to ditch all the whining about the past. Forget Vietnam. Forget Memos. Forget cocaine at Camp David. None of these issues are going to sway the Mickey Mouse voters. What we need is a BOLD, POSITIVE vision for the future. A reason to get people to fill in the Kerry bubble, not just to not fill in the Bush one.

What's Kerry's plan for dealing with North Korea?
What's Kerry's plan for dealing with the deficit?
What's Kerry's plan for Education?
What's Kerry's plan for recovering from the disasterous Medicare situation?
What's Kerry's plan to save social security?
What's Kerry's plan for the National Parks?
What's Kerry's plan for encouraging job growth?
What's Kerry's plan for campaign finance reform?
What's Kerry's plan for dealing with terrorism?
How will Kerry solve the problem in Iraq?
Who will Kerry appoint to head critical departments?

Everyone knows why George Jr. is a sh*tty President. What they need to know is why Kerry will be a much better one. The debates are our perfect chance to turn this thing around, and get people dreaming again - instead of experiencing the nightmare of the past 4 years.

Go Kerry!

1. JK must also remember that, during the debates......
... he's not talking to George Bush, he's not talking to the moderators... he's talking to the VOTERS.

That means DON'T feel compelled to simply reply to every question posed in agonizing detail. Address each question succinctly, then place it in a larger context for the benefit of the voters watching and listening. Tell us why it matters, how it fits into your plans for America, etc. etc.

2. It is a real problem
I spoke with my sister in NC last night. She is voting against GWB, but does not like Kerry well enough, even though he will end up with her vote. She rattled off, cold, haughty, blah blah blah.

I argued with her that part of the problem is the lack of support FOR Kerry. I said it would be hard to convince fence sitters, few that they are, or the occasional leaner to support Kerry if we cannot be positive our desire to vote FOR him.

I told her if she needed to to fake it. Maybe silly, but I think important.
