60 votes...
Okay... it takes 51 votes to pass... and 60 votes to break the filibuster...

So, let them filibuster, the dems can break it with their 60 vote majority, then the blue dogs and vote how they want and we still have over 50 to pass. Right?

It's just 60 votes to allow a vote... right? Or am I missing something here?

2. I'd wait until September 15th
and stick the whole single-payer bill to the reconcilation bill and have it passed by 51 votes.

Then watch the birth of the U.S. National Health Care.

And listen for the death rattle of the insurance companies going Chapter 7 because they put all the marbles on anti-health care reform.

3. You "assume" the Dems can break a filibuster?
There are 58 Democratic Senators and 2 independents who caucus with the Democrats, one which is Joe Lieberman. 60 votes are needed. I think you are missing something.

9. Yeah, it just gets worse. In reality it is true what Franken said
that 60 is just a number.

10. a. the blue dogs (and a few others) are hinting they won't vote for cloture.
b. hairbag reid claims that there aren't 51 votes, even if the filibuster was broken
