Shareholders would make bigger profits if he had less pay coming out of the profit pot. Have not figured out why shareholders are not screaming................
But then, there isn't much I can figure out anymore.

I'm glad that the ex is back with Blue Cross/Blue Shield--they're actually better in our state and easier to deal with. United Healthcare is anything but united with their clients or healthcare for their clients. Grrr.

I think you're off by a factor of ten, but I'm not sure because I don't know what data you're using.

I found this:

"Here are the 2008 salaries of the CEOs at the top healthcare companies: Aetna - $23 million, Cigna - $30 million, Medco - $21 million, Humana - $20 million, United Health Group - $13 million, Wellpoint - $9 million, Coventry Healthcare - $20 million. To be clear, this total of $136 million dollars covers the salaries for one year of just seven CEOs."

20,000,000.00 divided by 2000 hours a year = $10,000.00, a vulgar sum but one-tenth of the figure in your subject line.

Unless the CEO earns a really disturbing $200,000,000.00/year.

13. Attacking CEO pay is not as efficient as fighting the quality of the service delivered
CEO pay in general across the board has been out of whack and the market will take care of that - the issue is not how much they are paid, but the state of the services and costs they supply. I think an attack that pushes too much on regulating business executive pay will only lose support from those who want HC reform, but also believe in free markets.

If the HC companies soon have competition, lower costs to the consumer and operate in a new world of no pre-existing conditions, portability and working alongside a public option, then the CEO pay will adjust to meet the market. If they can do all that and then still pay a CEO big bucks, go for it.

Based on a 2,080 hour work year. Now, this is still too much, but am wondering if I missed something on this MUCH larger amount. If so, PLEASE give me a link and there is a LOT I could do with that.
