RNC continues lying about 'end of life' and health reform - issues "Senior Bill of Rights"

Steele formalizes the lies about health care reform with a "SENIOR HEALTH CARE BILL OF RIGHTS"

This is an obvious attempt to play on fears based on a lie.

Steele has no ethics, no self respect and no shame.

Ironically the people that are now trying to advance this are the people that fought Medicare when it was first proposed.

Shameful, absolutely shameful.

WASHINGTON -- Republicans are targeting older Americans worried about President Obama's health overhaul plans with a "seniors' health care bill of rights."

The six principles outlined Monday by the Republican National Committee include protecting Medicare, prohibiting rationing of health care based on age and making sure government doesn't get between seniors and their doctors.

The Obama administration has insisted repeatedly that it doesn't want to shrink Medicare benefits, ration care or reduce the role of doctors. But polls have shown that Americans, and older Americans in particular, still have significant concerns about Democratic health care proposals.

"Under the Democrats' plan, senior citizens will pay a steeper price and will have their treatment options reduced or rationed," RNC Chairman Michael Steele wrote in an op-ed in the Washington Post outlining the "bill of rights."

The GOP principles also include preventing government from "interfering with end-of-life care discussions." That is a reference to a provision in a bill by House Democrats that would allow Medicare to pay for voluntary counseling sessions about living wills and other issues. After critics seized on the provision and charged it could lead to "death panels" and euthanasia, administration officials said it would not likely be included in any final bill.

:puke:

THIS from a party whose historic legacy includes fighting tooth and nail AGAINST Social Security and Medicare?
:wtf:
I guess we need to remind seniors that they might want to think twice about trusting a party that, AS RECENTLY AS 2005, ACTIVELY tried to PRIVATIZE Social Security and whose intellectual brain trust openly admitted that their ultimate objective was to kill the program entirely, which is exactly what would've happened had it succeeded.
Oh, and I wonder how well most seniors, especially those whom have fallen into the "donut hole", are doing under the Republican's bloated 2003 Medicare drug boondoggle to the drug companies?
The Republicans do NOT have the best interests of seniors in mind (nor anybody else's but their own for that matter) and to see Steele engaging in this little *charade* makes me sick to my stomach all over again.

:puke:

Edited on Mon Aug-24-09 02:55 PM by jenmito
Medicare. "What programs would you cut-would you cut Medicare...?" Russertt asked. "Everything has to be on the table, my friend," answered Steele.

10. And where is the DNC?
Edited on Mon Aug-24-09 03:17 PM by nc4bo
Like I said earlier today, Michael "The Hambone" Steele was on GMA this morning with his hypocritical senior's rights nonsense. The host kissed his butt and it was painfully obvious that there would be almost no rebuttal to any of it.

Where is the Democratic version of the RNC? Why aren't they all over the airwaves countering this garbage?

I guess they're on vacation too?

blech.

ETA: I'm sorry grantcart to come in hear talking all outta my neck.
