One poll I'd love to see taken ASAP...
We all know John Kerry has overwhelming support in Europe and elsewhere as evidenced by a fairly recent poll, to wit:

Of all the polls that have been released recently, there is one that is so lopsided it makes this Presidential campaign look like a one-horse race.

Senator Kerry would win by a huge margin if the people questioned in this poll could vote in November. But of course they can't because the poll was carried out in 35 other countries around the world. The survey, reported in London's Financial Times, was carried out by the public opinion group Globescan, in conjunction with the University of Maryland. The results are stunning. In 30 of these countries, the public prefers Senator Kerry over President Bush by a two-to-one-margin.

We also feel intuitively that a Kerry administration would be much more likely to garner the international support which is required to stabilize Iraq.
When the results of the above Globalscan poll were published, the reaction was that it's nice to know and all, but does nothing to help Kerry.
One thing other governments can't do is openly support Kerry of course, but supposing the citizens of those 35 countries were polled again and asked "Would you support your government assisting the U.S. in the stabilization of Iraq if Kerry is elected President?" vs. "Would you support your government assisting the U.S. in the stabilization of Iraq if Bush remains President?"
That poll would swing some damn swing voters!

1. I don't know
I understand and agree with the logic of what people should think on seeing such a pole, but what about the "logic" that "Senator Kerry thinks that the people of Europe know what's best for the United States. He trusts the citizens of France and Germany more than he trusts the citizens of America who live in Missouri or North Dakota."

3. The whole point of the poll question is to show the people of
Missouri and North Dakota that President Kerry would be more capable of easing the already substantial burden they carry due to shrub's lousy leadership. We can't outright ask the leaders but since leaders follow the polls no matter what language they're written in if their people respond to supporting Kerry in Iraq then that sends a clear message that JK's got an advantage shrub will never have.
A poll simply stating a preference for Kerry over * isn't nearly as effective swaying voters here as a poll suggesting support in Iraq would be more likely for Kerry than *.

2. Hard to say, unfortunately.
A lot of Bush's support comes from people who LIKE the fact that the world is pissed at us, and in fact, think it's a sign that * is doing the "right thing."

Anyone who appreciates world opinion, in all likelihood, was already voting for Kerry. Trumpeting this survey would probably do more harm than good.

4. You're right about the hard-core bushites being uncaring about world
opinion. I'm looking more towards closing the gap (which shouldn't be there) between Kerry and * on terrorism and Iraq.
