The Lion of the Senate has left the scene for the last time...
The last of the Kennedy brothers...

Joe

Jack

Robert

And now....Teddy...

What a sad day for all of us...

He fought so many battles for the common good...

How I wish he had lived to see real health care reform passed...

Rest in peace, Teddy!

I can just see the reunion in heaven tonight...

1. times like this I wish I believed in an afterlife
but I don't. So I'll have to settle for a memorial to this man...which would be real and meaningful healthcare reform.

Do you hear that Dems? It's a lot of progressives about to get really mad if you don't do this quickly, and you don't do this right.

3. Ah, yes!
Perhaps this tragedy will prove to be the impetus to galvanize us at last for meaningful healthcare reform...

2. CNN radio (replay of Malloy on Green960)
just broke in with the news. And they played Ted's last convention speech...

"... and the dream lives on."

That brought tears to my eyes.

10. How wonderful that Ted Kennedy lived to see Barack Obama elected and inaugurated. How wonderful.
Go in peace with our thanks, brave Lion of the Senate. Rest in peace with your clan that gave us so much.

11. When you said, "I can just see the reunion in heaven tonight...", I thought of . . .

. . . A YEAR WITH RUMI: Daily Readings", a
book by Coleman Barks. The reading for August 25th
fits nicely with your saying, Peggy.

All best!

AUGUST 25

On the Day I Die

On the day I die,
when I am being carried toward the grave,
don't weep. Don't say, He's gone. He's gone.

Death has nothing to do with going away.
The sun sets and the moon sets,
but they are not gone.

Death is a coming together.
The tomb looks lika a prison,
but it's really release into union.

<**snip**>

You mouth closes here
and immediately opens
with a shout of joy there.

13. What a reunion, my dear CaliforniaPeggy!
Though I am sad, I take comfort knowing what all of the brothers - including Joseph Jr., who died in World War II - gave to our nation.

Thank you, Peggy.

And thank you, Ted.
