A fitting memorial to the Kennedy passing: pass Health care bill
There would be no more fitting tribute to the passing of Ted Kennedy, than to pass a health-care reform bill by early fall. After all, Mr. Kennedy devoted most of his political life to health-care reform legislation and it will be a major part of his political legacy.
The President has promised a bill will be passed in some form or another and the Kennedy death might be the symbolic impetus that is able to get a bill through the Senate and House.
Kennedy became a vigourous figure in getting Barack Obama to the White House; it was his early endorsement that propelled Mr. Obama's campaign. Part of that political thrust and payback would be for a health-care package to make its way to the President's office, where he'd sign the bill.
And it should be formally called the "Edward Kennedy Health-Care Reform package."
