8. I'm a cynic....
...so I'll have to say yes. I'm still making calls to many offices and I hope with our effort something good will come from it all, but deep down inside I don't think the Democrats will have the spine to do what's needed.

9. Time for Obama to take Rahm's advice
Ted Kennedy's death gives liberals who favor a public option an enormous amount of emotional capital. Question is, will Obama be pragmatic enough to transmute that into political capital? If he does, any Republican bitching about 51-vote reconciliation will be seriously blunted.
