My Local ABC Affiliate Is Doing A Story On Me, My Students, And Ted Kennedy
It's in regard to these (which I've posted before):

P.M. me if you want to know the when and where.

Whee!

I am so happy. Maybe I can mention the importance of passing a REAL health care bill. Suggestion please. I have to leave in a half hour. I'll be interviewed in my classroom. Today was an inservice day, and both my superintendent and principal gave me permission to leave when I need to, and did so enthusiastically! Whee!!

6. I will Do All That I Can
Here's a big time fantasy of mine, right now. What if this would get picked up by the national media?

Wait, I'm getting a bit ahead of myself. Getting nervous.

P.S. I'll be wearing black, head to toe.

10. Woohoo! How exciting for you!
Use the opportunity to remind people that Kennedy was frustrated that Bush left the money behind on his education bill.

It's excellent. There aren't many books out there on this subject that are suitable for elementary aged students. This one is great!:patriot:

14. A Little Update
First of all, I was up till about 1:30 a.m. working on some SmartBoard projects A SmartBoard is an interactive whiteboard. Guess I just got into it. I saw the news on CNN, and got a breaking news alert on my e-mail. I posted a bit about Senator Kennedy's passing last night. When I got up this morning (5:45 a.m.) I posted some more. Today is the first day of school for teachers. There was some inservice training I was attending with 2 other school districts. Before I left this morning, I e-mailed the local t.v. station and told them a bit about the story and gave them my cell if they were interested in doing a story on this. During an a.m. break I checked my voicemail, and they had left a message. I said I was obligated to be there till 3:30, but she said she would come anyway and do the story, but it would be cutting it close. This inservice was at another school that is close to our district. I talked to my superintendent and told him they wanted to do an interview with me.
He said that would be fine, and I could go whenever I needed to. Well I called the reporter back and she said she'd come and interview me in my classroom at 1:00. Then I told that to the superintendent, and he said that was fine. So, then I went to a sectional on differentiated instruction (which was excellent by the way), but I knew I couldn't stay for the whole session. I saw my principal was sitting across the room, and I needed to go. But she didn't know I had the green light from the super. So I motioned to her to meet me in the hallway. I explained it to her and she was thrilled. Anyway, I left early with the blessing of both my administrators!
I was very pleasantly surprised.
Tomorrow is the second day of inservice for teachers, and I'm sure this will be a big topic of conversation. It'll be especially fun that our repub teachers will have to listen to it and behave.

18. wow
just a couple of hours ago, I was in tears, telling my s.o. about being in D.C. a few years ago, visiting my son. We were outside the Capitol, and a black Suburban with dark windows pulled up, and the door opened. Two dogs leapt out, and ran across the lawn to greet the man who was walking toward them. There was Teddy Kennedy, walking across the grass with a tennis racquet in his hand. He started hitting balls across the lawn and the dogs raced after them, retrieving them for Teddy to hit again and again. They played - Teddy hitting, and the dogs bounding and panting, until it was time for Teddy to go back in to work, obviously renewed and rejuvenated by his time with his dogs.

The scene brought tears and a smile then, as it does today.
