Webster
Dirksen
LBJ
Mansfield
Humphrey
Kennedy

Probably leaving some out but those are the greats that spring to mind!

I admire solid legislative efforts, and Kennedy was tops at it, but, those who risk their careers to hold government accountable and expose the corruption get my biggest kudos, as they are doing so at great risk of their lives, as well, and are often targeted for a takedown by the DC establishment for those efforts.

Kennedy could be included in that regard, too, as every day he was in DC was a great risk to his life.
