John McCain: 'Revolution' on health care
Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) said Wednesday night that the raucous town hall crowds opposing the Democratic push for a health care
overhaul are proof that the beginnings of a “revolution” are bubbling up.

McCain told Fox News’s Sean Hannity during an interview that he has “never” seen anything like the “peaceful revolution taking place” in opposition to President Barack Obama’s push for health care reform.

“There is a grass-roots uprising the likes of which I have never seen,” he said. “There’s anger; there’s concern about the future. There’s concern about the generational theft that we’ve committed by running up unconscionable and unsustainable deficits.”

As an example, McCain pointed to a woman who told him during a recent town hall that the health care debate has left her “worried about my freedom.”

“What she was talking about was her right to choose what kind of health care
she wants, what physician she wants to see, when she can see a doctor and when she can’t,” the former GOP presidential nominee said. “She epitomized, in many respects, the deep and abiding concern out here and a revolt against a government-run health system.”

McCain knocked Democrats for being “in denial that Americans are upset and concerned” and for not understanding “the depth of the passion that’s out there.”

“They dismissed the tea parties, they dismissed your freedom rallies, they dismissed the real, vocal opposition to this health care plan,” the Arizona senator said. “But I don’t think they’re going to be able to dismiss it for too much longer.”

2. Guess he didn't see the anti-Iraq war protests.
Probably because he was watching the "liberal" media. :eyes:

3. It's a revolution to protect the status quo
Republicans blew their chance to reform the health industry when they were in power and are pissed because they know if we get it done, they will be out of power for an entire generation (the rest of life for many of those in opposition to reform). They are afraid of a progressive America because it will work so much better for ALL of America, not just the privileged few.

4. it's a revolution of ignorance-
and arrogance.

And it makes me feel ashamed of the people who share this nation.

6. I wish I had the "freedom" to pick my health care
but thanks to pre-existing conditions, no one will insure me. And if I lose my COBRA (which costs more than my mortgage) in six months, I guess I'll have the "freedom" to not see my doctor or afford my medications, like Advair and Singulair, for which generics are not available. I guess I'll just enjoy the "freedom" not to breathe.

And, yes, my husband *is* working, but at a job with no benefits and I just can't seen to land a job for the life of me.

8. Strange that he missed the entire anti war movement
both in the 60s/70s and more recently leading up to Iraq or the civil rights movement. It is strange that he does not remember how his party demonized regular Americans who protested in those.

What I find very weird is as he speaks like this, people from Larry King to Wolf Blitzer are suggesting that he has potential to be the new Ted Kennedy, which shows they don't really get who Ted Kennedy was. This even as McCain lied on Larry King speaking of the healthcare bill funding abortion at a time he was on to speak of his memories of Kennedy.

McCain proved in 2004 - 2008, that he was not who many thought he was in 2000. It is beyond strange after running one of the most divisive campaigns ever, he is, not a year later, being credited as reaching across the aisle.

9. And Blitzer thinks this boob could be the next Kennedy? Yeah, right.
Wolf should be forced to undergo psyciatric counseling for that remark.
