GOP accused of health ‘fear-mongering’ - Repubs ‘might’ face discrimination when seeking treatment
GOP accused of health ‘fear-mongering’
Letter says Republicans ‘might’ face discrimination when seeking treatment
The Associated Press
updated 8:36 a.m. ET, Sat., Aug 29, 2009

WASHINGTON - The national Republican Party has mailed a fundraising appeal suggesting Democrats might use an overhaul of the health care system to deny medical treatment to Republicans.

A questionnaire accompanying the appeal says the government could check voting registration records, "prompting fears that GOP voters might be discriminated against for medical treatment in a Democrat-imposed health care rationing system."

It asks, "Does this possibility concern you?"

Katie Wright, a spokeswoman for the Republican National Committee, said the question was "inartfully worded."

But she said people should worry because government officials would have access to personal financial and medical data.

"The RNC doesn't try to scare people," said Wright. "We're just trying to get the facts out on health care. And that's what we do every day."

'Outright lies'
Jon Vogel, executive director of the Democratic House campaign organization, called the GOP letter "shameless fear-mongering."

In a fundraising e-mail of his own seeking to raise $100,000 by Aug. 31, Vogel wrote the Republican accusation was "just a preview of the falsehoods, fabrications and outright lies Republicans will be pushing when Congress returns in September."

2. Missing the larger point - its also HATE mongering
By spreading false rumors of what THEY (the Democrats) are plotting to do to defenseless Republicans, the Republicans are attempting to raise fear combined with hate to flashpoint levels. Ignorance will take the suggestions now implanted to further levels - "Plugs will be pulled on Republican babies in incubators", etc.

To say that the question is "inartfully worded" is also a base lie. It is very, very, artfully worded.

The Republican National Committee should be forced to publicly apologize and retract and do a public service announcement about what inflammatory rhetoric can accomplish in bringing down a country - then they can all go on field trips to Rwanda and talk to the survivors of the genocide.

3. Seems as though they're projecting again...
If the GOP ever regained control, I have no doubt they'd politicize the health care system, just like they politicized every other branch of government in the last administration.

4. One of their private contractors for the IRS was found to compiling information
on Party affiliations, something that was never satisfactorily explained in my opinion.

5. It does not surprise me that
the RNC would send their supporters a message such as this. They have a low opinion of their supporters. Tailor the message to fit your audience I suppose.

I would be insulted to receive a message such as this.
