Watching the wake and funeral today it is clear why the RW
has to work so hard at destroying the Kennedys. These little men and women with shriveled hearts and loud mouths can lie, vilify and attack but they will never, never be able to separate Ted, Bob and Jack from the love that America has for them, their entire family and what America still can be.

5. And the Kennedys dared to put service to country ahead of their wealth.
Their choice to help others less fortunate flies in the face of all things the rabid right wing stand for.

14. I think that is at the root of some but not all of the disproportianate
hatred for him. Like FDR, he was a traitor to his class. The thought that someone with wealth would actively seek to share it rather than horde it drives some plutocrats bat shit crazy.

9. I was watching the funeral and realizing how powerful love is.
We have that going for us and we can't can't lose if we don't let ourselves become small and bitter. The past few days have really brought home to me that I have not done enough for other people...significantly the people in my family. Senator Ted Kennedy can make us all such better people if we follow his principles. What a huge heart that guy had. He will be missed but his spirit is so strong, we will never, ever forget him.

I would like to recommend it.

Send me a private e-mail when you post it so that I can K&R it. Thanks.

Even if I am the only one to recommend it, I just think it deserves to be posted as a separate thread. Your sentiment is mine.

23. I love her. I learned from a thread on DU that Nikita Khrushchev gave
Caroline one of the puppies of one of the space dogs the Russians sent into orbit. I was charmed by that story.

I had read that she and her Uncle Ted were very close. It sure sounds like after hearing what she had to say today, and how beautifully she said it.

The woman is a class act from the word go.

19. Agree. No one named 'Bush' would elicit this depth of emotion and
gratitude, not only because the Kennedys have delivered on genuine public service for some decades, but also because the Bushes were ineffective administrators, shallow people, willfully disconnected from the public sector, whores for big business, and war mongers as well.

22. As a boston irish catholic democrat
They were neighbors and friends who happened to become wildly successful, tragically martyred, and much loved for their kind and generous spirit.
They never lost that spirit and they never lost our love, even today.
If Joe or Kara or Ted Jr. run for Teddy's seat, they become the automatic favorite to win.
I hope one does.

24. As an Irish Catholic woman
I have lived through the deaths of John, Bobby and now Teddy and there has been much talk about our loss which indeed is great. But I look at all those Kennedy children and their numbers. I hope that more besides Patrick will pick up the flame and move it along. Literally by the size of their numbers they can go on, if they choose, forever. Rose Kennedy said "He who is given much, much is required"

I want to add an addition that when I think of them I have to include Martin Luther King, Jr.

31. shriveled hearts - perfect. I've been trying to think of just ONE bill the RW has written to
help PEOPLE. Not corporations.... plain ol' regular people.
I can think of NONE.

They hate Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid. They take every opportunity to attempt a rollback of civil rights and equal rights legislation. They cut student loans and education funding.

But even with the cuts and the mean-spirits....

Have you ever heard of... or can you even think of... ONE BILL..... that they have brought forth to help average Americans? to improve life? to make the world a better place?

Anyone? Anyone?

Yeah, dead air here, too.

51. It boils down to one thing:
Democrats ask "will this help the common people?" first.

Republican ask "what's in it for MY people?" first and foremost.

Their minds only see governing as a board room and the only people they need to please are their HANDLERS.

She's in a nursing home and really doesn't watch t.v.
She didn't know the Senator had passed.
She started talking about him and the Kennedys and added, "I think they were the greatest family America ever had."
She had out on the steps of my elementary school to encourage people to vote for JFK.
She loved them all.

Their shrill voices and crude comments about the Kennedys never sunk in.

Listening to the words expressed over the last few days about the Kennedys, it makes it clear the differences between Liberal and Conservative. And if I may add, those conservatives who use God or Jesus or the bible as their shield against what they call Godless liberals, have neither God nor Jesus nor the bible in their heart. It's pure and simple selfishness and mean spiritedness.

Rest in peace Teddy, Bobby and John.
