1. Thank you.
#27, I didn't notice the President putting his hand on the casket, it's a meaningful moment in a day of mourning.

9. I noticed President Obama's contact with the casket.
It was markedly different than the contact Mrs. Kennedy had seconds later. Obama patted it (rather forcefully IMO) and Kennedy placed her hand on the casket, slowly dragging it across.

It was an interesting study in contrast: Obama was patting his good friend on the back, Mrs. Kennedy was loving her husband.

Thanks for the pictures, Jackeens.

4. Thank You, Jackeens.
I had stopped crying for a little while, and now this thread and I'm back at it again.
These pics are incredibly moving and powerful.
Especially, of the kids.
The picture of Edward Kennedy III looking out the window of the rain soaked limo, did me in.
THAT KID.
We are going to hear from him one day, in that I believe.

Jackeens, what you do for DU is something we can't measure, and I thank you for that, and for your hard work.

You are the some of the best of what we offer here.

23. Teddy III Interview Video -- must see!
I wonder how this happened?!

But it's great. And he's already declared his intention to follow in his grandfather's footsteps. Hope he doesn't wait until 45!

You are such a joy. You've made it so easy for me to create a beautiful album for a friend. That one was of Obama, complete with baby pics to the Inauguration.

Now I'm going to make one of Senator Ted. I didn't know how much he did as Senator. Yes, the big things but, the personal gestures and reaching out to people. I'm blown away.

We all appreciate your threads. :grouphug:

I loved the moment captured in #27. In our family, we usually have some gifts we leave on the casket. For one Grandfather, it was his favorite hard candy. But definitely a lot of wonderful moments, sad and wonderful, captured here.

13. Oh Jackeens you've done it again. :::sniff sniff:::
I choked up during last night's memorial service.

I choked up during today's funeral service.

And here I go again watching these still photos of the actions I watched this morning.

What a great human being Senator Kennedy was.

What class that family has.

And the Obamas... classy too. His eulogy, and the rememberances from the two brothers... oh my. I'm choking up again.

:::sniff sniff:::

by himself, and how nice that he attended.

16. I was surprised to see Jack Nicolson there.
Looks like he came alone. Anyone know if there was a special bond between Jack and Ted?

Glad he didn't wear his usual 'shades' and wore clear glasses, respect for Senator Teddy.

Ted was a surrogate father to the Lawford kids too (Peter wasn't around much...before and after the divorce, I think).

Damn you for bringing tears to my eyes, Jackeens (pics 19 and 20)!

24. I don't care for them either.
When my would-be father in law died, I had a very hard time. I don't know what I'll do when my folks die. Luckily, they're both in their 50s and healthy...
