It the GOP is really against Frivolous Law Suits...
Why haven't these same people who want to deny normal folks harmed and maimed by corporate greed their day in court come out loud against the Former Miss California for suing the Miss America Beauty Contest.

1. When it comes to lawsuits & lawyers, I honestly think almost
everybody (PUBS & DEMS included) all fall into the "It depends on whose ox is being gored"!

I know I personally have complained about "Frivolous suits" & "Greedy b'td lawyers", BUT if I or one of my loved ones get in some legal trouble, guess who's the first person I call...MY LAWYER!

3. Don't forget the numerous Birther lawsuits
Oily Taitz just keeps soldiering on with these useless suits that all get thrown out. Frivolous? I'd say so.

4. They're against anything ...
That doesn't help them...

And there's nothing more patriotic than a beauty contest!

5. They don't define "frivolous" the same way you do.
The republican definition:
It's frivolous when poor people sue rich people or corporations.

7. Pretty much
Suing to deprive minorities of their rights, or to try to bring down a government? Those are ok. But poor and working class people suing corporations is unamerican.

6. Frivolous law suits are thrown out of court. Tort reform means bona fide claims won't be heard!

8. And why aren't they against frivolous defenses?
You should see the stuff insurance companies come up with to avoid paying claims. They know it takes a long time to get to trial. So they stall and don't pay on good claims until the last minute.

But that doesn't seem to bother the right wing.

9. "frivolous lawsuits" - a term popularized by corporation-supporting people...
Edited on Thu Sep-03-09 02:57 PM by BlooInBloo
And blindly repeated by the rest of America.

Americans are so willing to give up their own rights - it's simply amazing.

11. Cue Rick Santorum-

Lawsuit Abuse Critic Explains Suit
Senator's Wife Sued a Chiropractor for $500,000, Was Awarded $350,000 by Jury
Nov. 10, 2005

In recent years many doctors and politicians have complained that frivolous malpractice lawsuits and disproportionate jury awards are a problem in need of reform.

But when "Primetime" did some investigating, it turned out that at least some of the people in favor of reform -- even some of its loudest proponents -- have themselves benefited from the current laws.

The Senator's Wife

Sen. Rick Santorum, R-Pa., says that the No. 1 health care crisis in his state is medical lawsuit abuse and in the past he's called for a $250,000 cap on non-economic damage awards or awards for pain and suffering. "We need to do something now to fix the medical liability problem in this country," he declared at a rally in Washington D.C., this past spring.

But Santorum's wife sued a doctor for $500,000 in 1999. She claimed that a botched spinal manipulation by her chiropractor led to back surgery, pain and suffering, and sued for twice the amount of a cap Santorum has supported.

12. Our Congressman has a great answer to tort reform.
He said "I trust you people to make the right decisions about a lawsuit. I don't want the government to make those kind decisions."
That usually shuts them up.
