I'm Sorry - If The President Goes The Trigger Route - It Will Only Result In Him & The Dems......
shooting themselves in the foot.

Just think of the coverage after the President's speech on the 9th - if he backs away from a 'strong public option'. The MSM will make mincemeat out of him. Say he lost. Say he wimped out. Say he turned on the people that elected him.

The Repugs and the RW crazies and Fox will gloat on how they beat him and how they will now beat the Dems in 2010 and 2012. They'll be saying that they are back. They will have won. How they - in fact - stopped the Obama presidency in its tracks.

Obama will be considered a 'lame duck'. He will have failed to bring hope and change.

They will be saying all these things and bottom line the 'birthers', the 'tea baggers', the 'town hall disrupters', the 'gun toters' - essentially the minority - the crazies - will declare a victory.

NO - Obama can't back down now. He and the Dems can't compromise. There is no turning back.

The President needs to sit on and strongarm his party now and do whatever it takes to make this 'public option' and health reform pass. He needs to take a tough stance. This is were the rubber meets the road and he makes his presidency.

I don't know about anybody else here - but I couldn't bear to watch the cable news shows or read the accounts of President Obama - caving on this issue. I couldn't bear to listen to the Rush's, the Hannity's, the Beck's, the Palin's, the McConnell's, the McCain's, the Bachmann's of the world laugh at and make fun of this President - if he backs down now.

Call the White House today. Paint this picture for them - let them know how they will be portrayed if he backs away from a public option. Let them know how he will have let us down.

Sometimes its good to project an outcome before it happens - and think about how the MSM will report it. It will be none too pretty if the President and the Dems back off of this now.

The White House Comment Line number is 1-202-456-1111.

Note - I'm not saying he will back down - I'm just saying - this would be the result if he does back down. I want to prevent that - and the only way I know how is to man the phones - call your representatives in D.C. - march on Washington - whatever it takes to prevent this from happening.

1. Of course it won't look good. But, the corporations control this, and Obama is their frontman

2. One thing you are wrong about.
The tea baggers will not declare victory. They will continue to oppose anything Obama proposes. They will continue to be the tail waging the Republican dog. In the end, this will be what wins it for Obama. The Republicans will be seen as too rigid.

3. It doesn't matter what Obama does
the pukes will spin it in their favor, that's their job. I think the only way the anti-reform crowd can win though is to outright kill it, and that's their plan. It always has been their plan, they were never going to negotiate and everyone with half a brain knew it. This whole negotiation scam is just another Washington ploy to the stupid pretending that bipartisanship is possible in the current environment. I don't know if bipartisanship is ever truly possible but with the toxic RW fundies controlling the pukes it sure as hell isn't going to happen any time soon.

If Obama can get any reform through congress it's at least a marginal win. Any changes to the free for all that we as a country offer as "health care" is going to be a loss for the pukes. As 2010 comes around if there is a positive trend in the number of uninsured being covered and a negative trend in the money being spent overall on health care the Democrats stand to do pretty well. If we have the status quo on health care, the Republicons stand to do a lot better.

If the administration can strong arm a public option that's a big win for the good guys and it would shut the media up nicely. It would do nothing however to quiet the RW weirdo's currently bitching about all these "socialistic" "Nazi" dems. The RW doesn't even know what the hell socialism or Nazi's are, they just parrot the yapping points given them by the GOP machine through Beck, O'Reilly, Hannity and the rest of the cheerleaders. That won't change, ever.

I don't know what I think of the trigger route, I guess it's going to depend on how it's set up. I won't support or condemn it until I know more about it.
