Some things to remember before we pack up and leave the Country.
- We've been through these wingnut phases before. We had McCarthy, the John Birch Society, the KKK and many other hateful, fringe groups that, at times, looked much more influencial than they really were. More rational minds have always prevailed although it has always been a struggle. Remember that McCarthy's power and influence was finally snuffed out with one simple question: "Have you no shame?"

- The people heading up the wingnut fringe groups now have terribly troubled personal histories which reek of lack of discipline, academic failure, personal relationship failure. People like this will eventually self destruct.

- These wingnut movements tend to be strongest when the economy is at its weakest. These movements will weaken as the economy strengthens.

- These wingnut fringe groups came out with their strongest campaign in the dead of the summer when most people are simply not paying attention. It is now Labor Day weekend, kids are back in school, vacations are over, time to get serious again and who will Americans be hearing from this week? Obama.

Before I construct the 8 foot barbed wire fence, trade my two loveable Labradoodles for attack dogs, and buy a gun, I'm going to trust in the ultimate victory of good and decent Americans led by a good and decent and disciplined President who needs to keep his eye on the economy ball and the health care ball and not be distracted by all the bullshit.

6. A couple major assassinations? The nuts don't always "weaken" or "self-destruct".

3. I agree. Outlast the bastards is a handy motto.

And something along the lines of "eternal vigilance"......

10. I was
sort of with you for a second, but you lost me a bit towards the end.

I don't agree that people aren't paying attention to them, all we hear about are the wingnut fringe. They've highjacked everything, and we let them.

I agree that the President can't let himself get distracted by the bullshit, nor do I think he should be the one calling them out on their bullshit. But WE need to, along with our advocacy groups, think tanks, etc.

I knew way back in the very beginning writing these people off as crazy was the biggest fucking mistake, but that's what everyone did. Nonstop giggling over 'teabaggers' from the few voices we have in the media did nothing but make these people stronger, larger and bolder.

12. We'll see, Raven.
Healthwise, I can't afford to stay in this country if we don't get access to medical care. I'll be so glad when this vote is over so I'll know my fate . . . finally. We had "the plan" in case McCain won, but never expected we would have to bring it to the forefront again if Obama won.
