It would be best be termed a "useless sell-out".

3. Good luck with that one. That's never, ever, what anyone suggested it would be.
You might as well say that any President Obama who isn't Dennis Kucinich is not a "President Obama".

5. Do you have some brand-new definition of what a "public option" is supposed to be?

7. The public option is a federally operated insurance plan, not a universal coverage plan.
And if you select it as your plan and you're working, you'll pay premiums. I'm surprised that you can get the two confused.

9. I was never confused over the two

"Universal" means "available to anyone". Hence, a true public option means a gov't operated insurance plan universally available to anyone and everyone -- not just a few very poor individuals.

4. So the public option isn't important to you in the bill since it is less than single payer?
Edited on Sun Sep-06-09 02:15 PM by stray cat
we might as well not fight for any type of public option as it is meaningless?

6. No, any "public" option that isn't universal is meaningless because it's not a public option
What does single-payer have to do with this? Do you understand what a "public option" and "single payer" are supposed to be and how they differ?

10. brentspeak doesn't care about people getting actual help
He cares about avenging the assault on his pride that was Obama's overwhelming election victory. Any purpose other than that one is foreign to his way of thought.
